Abstract: An imaging system configured with readout circuit redundancy is disclosed. Pixel data from a particular column can be steered around a defective readout circuit to an operational readout circuit. Thus, larger imaging arrays which are generally more prone to common column circuitry defects are enabled. In addition, imaging systems configured with significant on-chip signal processing, which are also more prone to common column circuitry defects, are enabled. The occurrence of lost pixel data from an entire column is eliminated or otherwise reduced, thereby increasing overall operability and yield of the imaging system. The system can be implemented on a single chip or a chip set.

Abstract: A multi-port junction is used in combination with an Inverse Fourier Transform to detect distance to fault in an RF transmission line or waveguide without the use of heterodyne down-conversion circuits. To provide an ultra-wide bandwidth frequency domain reflectometer the output ports of the multi-port junction are used to calculate distance to fault and return loss. The Inverse Fourier Transform algorithm is modified to take into account both phase shift per unit length of the transmission line and attenuation per unit of length in the transmission line, with the output of the modified Inverse Fourier Transform being applied to a module that subtracts out the effect of previous faults by solving for the distances ahead of time before knowing amplitudes and for solving for amplitude at each prior fault starting with the first fault. The output of this module is then used thresholded to remove the effects of noise, secondary reflections and inconsequential peaks.

Abstract: A four-port junction is substituted for a six-port junction in a frequency domain reflectometer, which reduces the parts count and therefore cost and size of the reflectometer while improving reliability. The frequency domain reflectometer can alternatively be used as an insertion loss tester. An algorithm including the Hilbert Transform is used to directly calculate the estimated reflection coefficient from the output power measured at only two output ports.

Abstract: A miniature broadband monopole antenna design configured with integrated band-selecting filtering is disclosed. The antenna is electrically folded, and includes top and bottom monopole sections, with a meanderline to provide an inductive load between the two sections. The overall antenna structure can be embedded in a relatively small, RF transparent, composite structure (e.g., such as the fin of a guided munition), and has minimal impact on aerodynamics (low drag). The top, bottom, and meanderline elements of the antenna operate together to collectively provide multi-band operation (e.g., 30 MHz to 3 GHz).

Abstract: A Tree-structured multicarrier multiple access communication system in a multiple access environment having a number of interfering signals. In one embodiment an environment estimator estimates and tracks the number of interfering signals of the environment. A code selector determines an optimal spreading code represented by the environment, and identifies an actual spreading code that is closest to the optimal spreading code. A signal transmitter can then be used to transmit a multicarrier multiple access signals in accordance with the actual spreading code identified. On the receiver side, a multiuser detector (MUD) module performs tree structured multiuser detection signal processing, and produces a bit stream for each interfering signal.

Abstract: A digital adaptive power supply interface has two feedback loops, each including a VCO, to automatically compensate for temperature and semiconductor process variations. A first loop compares the system input phase/frequency to a reference voltage that has been converted to a first digital frequency signal by a VCO in the first loop, and generates an analog difference signal. The second loop compares this analog difference with the power supply output voltage, and a VCO in this second loop converts result of this comparison to a second digital frequency signal. The digital frequency signals of the two loops are fed respectively to two registers and the content of the registers are subtracted, one from the other, to generate a digital error signal adjust the power supply output voltage to the input frequency.

Abstract: A system is provided for increasing the number of users capable of communicating over a wireless network to permit multiple users to transmit information simultaneously on the same channel or frequency in which a Viterbi decoder-based signal separation system is used to pull apart or uncorrupt the otherwise interfering signals on the channel. In one embodiment, two users are assigned to the same channel, with a joint parameter estimation pre-processor being utilized to provide an estimation of the power, time and frequency offsets and phase of the incoming signals. The joint parameters estimated by the parameter estimation unit are applied to a signal separator which recovers and pulls apart the two signals.

Abstract: A compact fixturing means is disclosed that delivers two or more phase tracked channels of high power (e.g., 1000 Watts) to an antenna that can produce a multiplicity of polarization depending on the phase relationship of the delivered signals. Coaxial cables are used as a service loop to provide two or more channels of phase tracking and high power signals to the multi-polarized antenna. A flat spiral spring is configured within the fixture to the guide two (or more) coaxial cables along a spiral loop to allow approximately equal tension on the cables as the fixture is rotated. The flat spiral spring is operatively coupled to a rotation plate and progresses form an inner radius proximate the fixture input to an outer radius proximate the fixture output.

Abstract: Improved punch-through performance is provided for applications such as sum and difference mode processing for IFF and other applications. With an array including a row of elements, difference sidelobe levels are increased relative to sum sidelobe levels by independently controlling relative signal levels of difference mode signals provided from signals received by central elements of the array. By processing signals from central elements independently from processing of signals from outer elements of the array, difference mode signals derived from the central elements may be employed at higher signal levels in order to raise difference mode sidelobe levels to improve punch-through performance. Antenna systems and methods are described.

Abstract: Techniques for precise removal of offset charge associated with the reset switch of an integration circuit are disclosed. Offset cancellation circuitry includes a single reset offset subtraction circuit and a replica integrator, which is configured identically to the integrators to be offset cancelled. An offset charge is generated by the circuitry and capacitively coupled to the target integrators. This generated offset charge causes voltage at the input node of each target integrator to substantially match the desired starting voltage level of the targeted integration process. Minimal additional space and circuitry is needed. All of the undesired offset charge is cancelled, without canceling any of the desired input current.

Abstract: A frequency selective leveling loop that performs phase and amplitude control of multiple signals within a phased array structure is disclosed. The leveling loop sensor componants are embedded into the array structure. The frequency selective leveling loop can be used with multiple signal amplifiers, and a conventional phase array jamming system can be used to radiate multiple signals simultaneously. The conversion of phase information to baseband eliminates the need for phase matched cables. The frequency selective leveling that is enabled is tolerant of multiple signals and provides the individual signal phase and amplitude feedback by utilizing analytic sampling.

Abstract: A multi-level framework that allows an application to be developed independent of the chip or board, and any dependency is built in as part of the framework of the field programmable device (FPD). A shell configuration called a ‘wrapper’ has a standard look, feel and form factor that provides the interface between the high density language (HDL) application and a standardized and board independent HDL shell, thus isolating the HDL core. A second wrapper is a board specific HDL shell that interacts with the standardized shell. Any application that has the same look, feel and form factor has a common interface that allows various system boards to communicate, providing a mechanism for creating a HDL application component independent of the hardware. An outer shell binds the system to some board and talks to the application program interface (API) layer and the code layer to the outside world, such as the operating system.
