Patent number: 10531185Abstract: A stackable horn configured such that a plurality of substantially identical horns can be stacked to form an array. Each horn diminishes in interior area from a mouth to a throat thereof and is vertically taller and longitudinally deeper than it is wide. The horn or array may be secured to a support. In the array, the horns are similar or identical and are arranged side-by-side with a space in between or in abutting contact. An aperture is defined in the throat of each horn and a microphone is positioned within the throat of each horn in the array. The arrangement of horns in the array permits beamforming and as a result allows simultaneous detection, tracking, and identification of multiple targets. Listening distance is greatly increased by utilizing the horn or the array of horns.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2018Date of Patent: January 7, 2020Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventor: David A. Patent number: 10520590Abstract: An active receiver having a digital-pixel focal plane array (DFPA) ranges a target when observing return pulses from a pulsed laser beam synced with the receiver. The DFPA establishes a time when the pulsed laser beam contacts a target and the range can then be established because the speed at which the laser beam travels is known. Various basis functions may be implemented with the DFPA data to establish when the laser beam contacts the target. Some exemplary basis functions are binary basis functions, and other exemplary basis functions are Fourier basis functions.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2017Date of Patent: December 31, 2019Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey L. Patent number: 10521728Abstract: A method for predicting subject trustworthiness includes using at least one classifier to predict truthfulness of subject responses to prompts during a local or remote interview, based on subject responses and response times, as well as interviewer impressions and response times, and, in embodiments, also biometric measurements of the interviewer. Data from the subject interview is normalized and analyzed relative to an experience database previously created using data obtained from test subjects. Classifier prediction algorithms incorporate assumptions that subject response times are indicators of truthfulness, that subjects will tend to be consistently truthful or deceitful, and that conscious and subconscious impressions of the interviewer are predictive of subject trustworthiness. Data regarding interviewer impressions can be derived from interviewer response times, interviewer questionnaire answers, and/or interviewer biometric data.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2016Date of Patent: December 31, 2019Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventors: Troy M Lau, Scott A Kuzdeba

Patent number: 10473746Abstract: A system and method for rank estimation of electromagnetic emitters is provided. One aspect of the disclosure provides creating a graph of angles of arrival (AoAs) versus range and using a polynomial curve fit against the graph to determine a rank estimation of electromagnetic emitters. Another aspect of the disclosure provides using a search over parameters of the multiple polynomial curve fits, for each hypothesized rank, to optimize the rank estimation results. Publication number: 20190340517Abstract: The present invention is a method for constructing a knowledgebase that can provide analysis and trend prediction of emerging technologies. Metadata and full text are gathered from collections of documents, which can include more than 10 million documents, and are used to build a heterogeneous network of elements related to themes such as technical emergence. Indicators and models are selected that identify network characteristics and trends of interest. The indicators can be derived by applying a combination of citation analyses, natural language processing, entity disambiguation, organization classification, and time series analyses. A metric can be used to evaluate indicator utility. A framework can be sued to generate and validate the indicators. The models can be derived using an automated process. Upon receipt of a query, the indicators and models can be used to apply a scoring process to extracted features to predict a future prominence of an entity.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 8, 2015Publication date: November 7, 2019Applicant: BAE Systems Information and Electronics Systems Integration Inc.Inventors: Olga Babko-Malaya, Daniel B. Patent number: 10466024Abstract: The system and method for accurately determining range-to-go for the command detonation of a projectile warhead. Using dual laser detectors on the tail and on the nose of a spinning projectile to determine the range-to-go, time-to-go, or lateral offset from the projectile to the target. The method for controlling a projectile warhead uses a large area PIN detector and an ogive window. If the PIN detector is large enough to capture the second laser signal, the window is no longer an optical element, only a window thereby drastically reducing the cost of the system. In some cases the detector on the nose of the projectile comprises several PIN diodes placed around the projectile as a distributed aperture. Distributed apertures may also be created by placing the PIN diodes on the wing roots or body of the projectile.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2018Date of Patent: November 5, 2019Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventors: Michael J.
