  • Patent number: 4772182
Abstract: An adjusting device for adjustable rotor vanes of a machine rotor including a first gear wheel (34) on a machine shaft (2) and a second gear wheel (44) on an adjusting shaft (4), whereby a relative rotation between the machine shaft and the adjusting shaft can be initiated through a transmission (38) by either of two braking devices (12, 22). The adjusting device of the invention makes it possible to adjust the rotor vanes with a simple construction and with a good degree of efficiency while simultaneously providing good accessibility for assembly and service. A further brake (40, 41) is provided between the transmission (38) and the machine shaft (2) or the adjusting shaft (4) to maintain synchronous rotation of the adjusting shaft (4) with the machine shaft (2) during normal operation, i.e., so long as no adjustment of the rotor vanes (64) is to take place.

  • Patent number: 4545263
Abstract: Gearbox comprising a first clutch-hub having gear-teeth and a coaxial hollow wheel also with gear-teeth, connected to, but not rotating upon, a second clutch hub, and also having a planetary gear in part engagement with the gear-teeth and an adjustable transmission-shaft. The latter is adapted to be adjusted, by means of an adjusting device, in such a manner that the clutch-hub and the hollow wheel rotate selectively, either at rotational speeds between which there is a predetermined difference, or in synchronism. In a known gearbox of this kind, the planetary gear is arranged eccentrically upon the transmission-shaft, causing relatively considerable imbalance and relatively high bearing loads at high rotational speeds. In order to overcome this problem, and to achieve a simple design, especially of the transmission shaft, the invention proposes that the first clutch-hub comprise a radially spaced, internally toothed ring, creating an annular space.

  • Patent number: 4099427
Abstract: Planetary gearing includes a toothed gear, a pair of toothed central gear meshing with the toothed planet gear and having a respectively different number of teeth forming virtual tooth rows one with the other, and a cam disc rotatable about an axis and operatively connected with the toothed planet gear for guiding and driving the same, all of the gears having teeth of substantially triangular cross section and flat tooth flanks, each of the virtual tooth rows having tooth gap points disposed on a closed virtual addendum curve having a center of mass located on the axis of rotation of the cam disc, the teeth of the planetary gear flatly engaging on both sides thereof the flanks of at least one of the virtual tooth rowa, the one virtual tooth row having a pitch equal to that of the tooth row of the planet gear so that, in a limiting case, all of the teeth except for the difference in the numbers of teeth of the central gears are in force-transmitting engagement.

  • Patent number: 4099675
Abstract: A sprinkler head for water spray cooling installations, attachable to a bottom wall of a hot water distribution conduit or distribution channel, the sprinkler head having a spray pipe reaching through an aperture of said bottom wall and a carrier shell or an open carrier cage surrounding the spray pipe and supporting one or several superposed cone-shaped spray plates at a short distance from the mouth of the spray pipe. Each spray plate has a pattern of spray distributor slots extending through its wall, so that a portion of the water passes through these slots and covers the central area underneath the sprinkler head, for an optimal distribution of the water.

  • Patent number: 3999900
Abstract: A nutating pump of the type which has a rotatable shaft with a central member with an annular support groove at an angle to the shaft in which a disk is moveably supported and is restrained against rotation by a partition inserted in a radial slot in the disk, and has conial sections coaxial with the shaft and positioned on either side of the central member, the peripheral surface of the conic sections and the annular groove being at substantially the same angle with respect to the shaft. One such pump includes moveably replaceable central members and conic sections whereby the operating characteristics of the pump may be changed without having to replace the pump body. In another embodiment, a cylindrical insert is included in the radial slot in the disc, and grooves are included in the peripheral surfaces of the conic sections to receive the cylindrical insert as it passes over the surfaces of the conic section.
