  • Patent number: 4599818
Abstract: Disclosed is a magazine catch for a pistol. The catch is reversible for operation from one or the other side of the pistol to release the magazine from the pistol. The catch includes a pin carrying a pair of projections. One of the projections engages a slot in the side of the magazine to retain the magazine in the pistol handle. The pin has a radially offset chamber which receives a locking screw. A spring in the chamber biases the screw and the pin axially away from one another. The screw carries a locking cam which projects through a slot in the pin for engagement in a locking grooves carried by the seat. By pressing the button on the end of the pin, the projection is displaced from the magazine slot to release the magazine. To operate the magazine catch from the opposite side of the pistol, the locking screw is rotated to withdraw the locking cam from the locking grooves. The catch is then axially removed from its seat, reversed in orientation, and inserted into the seat from the opposite of the pistol.

  • Patent number: 4586282
Abstract: Disclosed is a grip assembly having a pair of side grips and a heel grip. Each side grip has a plurality of inwardly directed projections arranged to conform to the outline of an opening in the frame. Forwardmost projections of the side grips are undercut to lock the forward edges of the side grips to the frame in final assembly. The remaining projections bear against the margin of the frame opening to prevent shifting movement of the side grips in a plane parallel to the plane containing the handgun. The side grips also carry undercut inwardly directed projections adjacent their rear edges. The heel grip includes a leaf spring, the opposite lateral ends of which engage the undercut rear projections of the side grips in final assembly to lock the rear edges of the side grips against movement laterally outwardly of said frame. The heel grip is secured to the frame by a pin inserted through the frame and heel grip adjacent the lower end of the heel grip.

  • Patent number: 4581836
Abstract: Disclosed is an elongated, generally cylindrical, firing pin for a revolver, the firing pin having first and second end sections separated by an intermediate section. The first section terminates in a chisel tip for impacting a cartridge casing. The chiselled tip is characterized by bevelled sides and a bevelled bottom terminating in an asymmetrical tip end face. The firing pin is axially slidable in a bushing non-rotatably mounted in the revolver frame by a transverse bushing pin. A keyway system cooperates between the intermediate section of the firing pin and the bushing to preclude rotational movement of the firing pin relative to the bushing.

  • Patent number: 4575961
Abstract: Disclosed is a gun sight elevation adjusting apparatus having an adjusting screw threaded into the sight elevation body for adjusting the elevation of the sight. The screw has an annular groove and a plurality of circumferentially spaced indentations thereabout below the groove. A generally U-shaped clip is retained on the screw as its legs straddle the screw about the groove. A tang is bent out of the plane of the clip and its point rides on the screw to engage in the indentations upon rotation of the screw and registration of the indentations with the tip. The clip prevents the screw from being removed from the sight body and provides an audible click to click and a positive snap-like feel adjustment for the sight.

  • Patent number: 4574600
Abstract: Disclosed is a handcuff having a pair of cheeks and jaw pivotally secured one to the other and movable between handcuff open and closed positions. The cheeks carry a lock assembly including a pivotally mounted bolt for locking the jaw and cheeks one to the other in the handcuff closed position and a leaf spring for biasing the bolt for movement into its locking position, the spring carrying a detent. The spring is slidable between a first position with the detent offset from the bolt to enable the bolt to move against the bias of the spring to unlock the jaw and a second position locating the detent in registry with the bolt to maintain the bolt in its locked position thus double locking the handcuff. A keyhole is provided through one of the cheeks and receives a bushing. The bushing terminates short of the other cheek and is disposed about a pin secured to the other cheek. Thus bolt head includes a shoulder located between the end of the bushing and the one cheek.

  • Patent number: 4549465
Abstract: Disclosed is a slide stop assembly for a handgun including a slide stop pivotal from an inoperative position into a position engaging the slide when the latter is in a recoiled position. A generally flat, shallow V-shaped, side plate is secured along one side of the frame against rotation or rocking movement. The securement is effected by engagement of the side plate at spaced points therealong with the respective hammer and sear pins of the handgun. One leg of the side plate extends forwardly and terminates in a tab. A spring biased plunger on the slide stop engages the tab to preclude inadvertent pivoting of the slide stop from its inoperative detented position into its slide stop position.

  • Patent number: 4398655
Abstract: Disclosed is a belt and holster combination wherein the holster is removable from and attachable to the belt without opening or removing the belt from about the individual wearing the holster. The belt includes an elastic portion, adjacent opposite ends of which are carried clips which open in laterally opposite directions one from the other. The holster has a pair of laterally spaced D-loops pivotally carried by the holster body. When the belt is tensioned to stretch the elastic portion, the belt clips and holster D-loops register and are connected one with the other. The tension on the belt caused by strapping the belt about the individual's waist maintains the connection between the holster and the belt. The holster is attached to an detachable from the belt while the latter is worn by an individual simply by connecting or disconnecting each D-loop relative to its associated belt clip.

  • Patent number: 4378082
Abstract: A holster for holding a handgun having a safety strap integrated with a quick release mechanism to hold the handgun in place until released by the user. The strap extends from an exposed portion of the holster over a part of the handgun and cooperates with a complementary member and the release mechanism integrated therewith for releasing the strap from the complementary member thereby allowing the gun to be withdrawn. This release mechanism is located sufficiently within the outer dimensions of the handgun and the holster to impede substantially inadvertent actuation.

  • Patent number: 4328750
Abstract: Disclosed is a lead bullet having a coating comprised of a thermoplastic composition of molybdenum disulfide and Nylon 11. Nylon 11 per se and other coatings are also disclosed. The coating minimizes or prevents deposition of lead along the barrel and other mechanisms of a firearm. To apply the coating, the bullet is initially degreased and heated to clean its surfaces. A phosphate coating is applied and the bullet is heated to a temperature of at least 425.degree. F. The heated bullet is then disposed in blended molybdenum disulfide and Nylon 11 powder, Nylon 11 per se, or other coating materials to obtain a coating thickness within a range of 1-12 mils. The coated bullet is subsequently heated to at least 367.degree. F. to fuse and to densify the coating on the bullet.

  • Patent number: 4295659
Abstract: Disclosed is a self-supporting trailer having at least a pair of rear wheels and a steerable and casterable front wheel with the weight of the trailer being substantially equally divided among the wheels. The front wheel is carried for turning movement by a yoke which is secured to the trailer frame by leaf springs. The leaf springs provide rigid and lateral stability between the yoke and frame and enable vertical movement of the frame relative to the yoke. The steerable wheel is carried by a fork pivotally coupled to the yoke. A drawbar is bifurcated at its rearward end for connection to the yoke arms and pivotal movement about a horizontal axis. The opposite end of the drawbar carries a tongue mounting a hitch for connection to the towing vehicle and a steering arm carried by the fork whereby the steering wheel tracks the turning movement of the towing vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4165826
Abstract: A holster and a belt for carrying a handgun where the holster is releasably secured to the belt for locating the handgun within trousers to maintain the handgun sufficiently hidden until exposed for use. The holster has a pocket member for receiving the handgun and a flexible portion which connects the holster to the belt. This flexible portion is of a length which locates the entire handgun where it is carried by the pocket portion of the holster below the belt such that it will be normally hidden from view. To expose the handgun for operation, the operator can simply press the holster, upwardly exposing at least a grip of the handgun for grasping by the user.
