  • Patent number: 11788542
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for a dual tandem seal configuration that can provide a seal around a drive shaft in a pumping apparatus. The pumping apparatus can include an outboard seal radially surrounding an adapter shaft. The outboard seal can be retained in place by a front bracket at a front end of the outboard seal and a retention lip of the adapter shaft at a rear end of the outboard seal. The pumping apparatus can further include an inboard seal radially surrounding the adapter shaft and located between the outboard seal and the pump. The inboard seal can be retained in place by a rear bracket at a front end of the inboard seal.

  • Patent number: 6971633
Abstract: A ball valve assembly having two end bodies selectively detachable from each other with each end body defining a fluid conveying bore is provided. A rotatable ball valve element is disposed within the end bodies and defines a central passage having an axis, with the rotatable ball valve element having an open position in which the central passage is aligned with the fluid conveying bores and a closed position in which the passage is not aligned with the fluid conveying bores. The ball valve assembly also includes a pair of seals, with a seal disposed in each end body and in selective abutting engagement with the rotatable ball valve element. The structure of the rotatable ball valve element is controlled such that the ball valve assembly is assembled with the ball in an open position, thereby substantially eliminating the significant force normally required for assembly of the ball valve assembly.

  • Patent number: 6945273
Abstract: A dry break coupling assembly for interconnecting components of a fluid handling system. The coupling assembly includes first and second valves, each includes a rotatable valve element for opening and closing a fluid passageway within a valve body. The over-center clamp mechanism is for interlocking the first and the second valves when the valves are in a connected arrangement, allowing the valves to be easily disconnected when the valves are in a closed position, having a pair of projecting bars disposed on an outer surface of a body of a first valve and a pair of clamp assemblies disposed on a body of the second valve. Each clamp assembly includes a clamp arm having a hook end for engaging one of the projecting bars, and a clamp lever for actuating the hook end to engage or disengage the projecting bar.

  • Patent number: 6732878
Abstract: A lid apparatus for a tank opening that retains fluid within the tank while allowing air to vent into or out of the tank. An air manifold is provided, preferably as part of an installation ring of the apparatus which is mounted to the tank around the tank opening. The air manifold has an outer radial wall and an inner radial wall spanned by an annular base surface. A plurality of angularly spaced openings in the outer radial wall are angularly offset from a plurality of openings in the inner radial wall to be out of angular alignment therewith, and the space above the annular base surface between the outer radial wall openings and the inner radial wall openings provides a plurality of air flow passageways. A cap of the apparatus has a cover portion and a depending mounting member adapted to insert within the installation ring and engage a cap mounting portion of that ring to detachably mount the cap to the installation ring.

  • Patent number: 5988699
Abstract: A tank fitting assembly for an inlet/outlet port in a tank wall. The tank fitting assembly includes first and second fitting elements which are respectively mountable to an interior surface and an exterior surface of a tank and in registry with a drain opening in the tank wall. Stand-offs furnished on the underside of the body of the first fitting element create a gap between the underside of the element body and the tank wall. The gap serves as a fluid passageway, thereby allowing fluid to empty from the tank by passing along the bottom wall of the tank to the tank wall drain opening and then through a drain hole in the second fitting element. The connectors used to connect together the first and second fitting elements extend through bores provided in the first fitting element, through the tank wall, and through bores provided in the second fitting element.

  • Patent number: 5673896
Abstract: A reduced length bolted ball valve assembly used to control the flow of liquid between components of a liquid handling system. The valve assembly includes an abutting pair of end bodies, connectable to the liquid handling system components, which are attached by bolts passing through flanges provided at the inward ends of the end bodies. One end body, which is provided with a liquid system connector that both outwardly projects from the attachment flange and is used to connect to the liquid handling system component, includes an interior cavity outward of its attachment flange. Housed within this interior cavity is a rotatable ball valve element with a diametric bore. A handle is engaged with the rotatable ball valve element via a member which extends through an end body bore, which opens into the interior cavity and which is located outward of the attachment flange.

  • Patent number: 5595217
Abstract: A dry break coupling assembly for interconnecting components of a fluid handling system. The coupling assembly includes first and second valves which each include a rotatable valve element for opening and closing a fluid passageway within a valve body. The valve elements are cooperatively structured such that a portion of one valve element fits within a recess in the other valve element when the valves are connected, thereby reducing any space between the valves in which fluid could collect and spill from when the valves are disconnected. The first valve includes camming levers pivotally mounted to the body. The second valve includes locking fingers disposed on the body that are engaged by the camming levers when the first and second valves are connected and the camming levers pivot to the locking position, whereby the valves are locked together. The present invention provides a mechanism for engaging the camming levers when the valves are opened to prevent inadvertent disconnection of the valves.
