Patents Assigned to Barkley Seeds, Inc.
  • Patent number: 6344599
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an open pollinated hybrid with yields similar to standard F1 hybrids and to methods of producing open pollinated hybrids. This invention results in a method of inexpensive, continuous seed increase with minimal loss of hybrid vigor.

  • Patent number: 6238719
Abstract: Disclosed are highly digestible barley flakes and kibbles which have elevated levels of long chained beta glucan fibers (1 mm to 6 mm long, 2 microns to 10 microns wide) providing these cereal foods and food ingredients with clinically active hypocholesterolaemic, immunostimulative, and atumorigenic properties; also disclosed are the methods to produce these flakes and kibbles.

  • Patent number: 6132791
Abstract: The production and use of a stable ruby red natural colorant prepared from an anthocyanin derived from purple hulled sunflower is described. The production of the ruby red natural colorant comprises the extraction of anthocyanin with an organically acidified aqueous solution and separating the extract from residual material. The extract can be concentrated to produce a ruby red concentrate. The natural colorant produced is stable over a wide pH range and upon exposure to light and elevated temperatures. The natural colorant is useful as a coloring agent for food products, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and other materials.
