  • Patent number: 9910159
Abstract: A method and apparatus are presented for providing a compact extended ephemeris package for GNSS processing. An extended ephemeris service provides orbit trajectories and clock corrections which are predicted into the future for navigation satellites. The extended ephemeris package format used allows the ephemeris information to be sent quickly and efficiently, even when using a low bandwidth communication network. Client GNSS receiver devices obtain the extended ephemeris package and extract the satellite ephemeris information for later use. This allows a client device to operate for many days or weeks without needing to decode or receive new satellite ephemeris information.

  • Patent number: 9116234
Abstract: A system and method for an advanced GNSS receiver that is operable to provide an ultra-fast, autonomous and reliable TTFF that does not require an initial position, at the same time, minimizing processing power and hardware cost. The system and method is able to reliably recover the time of transmission of the received signals using I/Q sample lengths on the order of milliseconds, and is capable of operating autonomously without the need of aiding technologies such as the AGPS technology for which there are privacy and service availability concerns.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system, method and computer program for a GNSS receiver that is operable to provide an ultra fast Time To First Fix (TTFF). The invention is implementable without requiring the decoding of a navigation message transmitted by GNSS satellite systems. The system of the present invention may comprise a parameter obtaining means, a clock obtaining means and a Fast TTFF engine. The parameter obtaining means may obtain satellite parameters of one or more GNSS satellites. The clock obtaining means may obtain a clock for estimating a GNSS time tag. The Fast TTFF engine may be linkable to a signal interface that is operable to provide I/Q samples from a GNSS antenna. The Fast TTFF engine may comprise a measurement generation utility, a coarse search utility and a fine search utility. The measurement generation utility may compute the Doppler frequency shift and the code phase of the one or more GNSS satellites based on the I/Q samples.

  • Publication number: 20120293369
Abstract: The present invention relates to navigation data bit synchronization for a GNSS receiver and more specifically to a software-based GNSS receiver that is operable to rapidly achieve accurate navigation data bit synchronization. It provides a system, method and computer program for navigation data bit synchronization for a GNSS receiver. The system comprises a navigation bit synchronization engine operable to detect one or more indicators in one or more data samples received from a GNSS satellite. The location of the navigation bit is derivable from the one or more indicators. The bit synchronization engine may include one or more of (i) a coarse search utility, (ii) a regular search utility, (iii) a fine search utility and (iv) a bit-edge prediction utility.
