  • Patent number: 6756471
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of water-soluble polymers containing polyalkylene glycol ether side chains and having molecular weights of from 15,000 to 65,000 by solution polymerization of esters of ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids and polyalkylene glycols which are masked on the end groups at one end, if desired together with another monomer in at least one hydrocarbon at monomer concentrations of from 70 to 95% by weight in the presence of free-radical-forming polymerization initiators and, if desired, polymerization regulators at temperatures of up to 200° C., removal of the solvent used in the solution polymerization, and dissolution of the polymers in water to give from 50 to 80% strength by weight solutions, with polymers containing acid groups being neutralized if desired.

  • Patent number: 6593473
Abstract: Improved process for the preparation of granular N-alkylammoniumacetonitrile salts I R2R3N+R1—CR4R5—CN Y−  (I) where R1 to R5 are hydrogen or organic radicals, and Y− is a sulfate or hydrogensulfate anion, from an aqueous solution of the compound II R2R3N+R1—CR4R5—CN R6O—SO2—O−  (II) where R6 is C1- to C4-alkyl, which comprises evaporating this aqueous solution at a temperature of from 80° C. to 250° C. and a pressure of from 10 mbar to 2 bar to give a melt, then allowing the melt to solidify, where, during or following the evaporation, customary carrier materials and/or auxiliaries can be added, and the resulting solidified compound I is converted into the desired granular form.

  • Patent number: 6040349
Abstract: A process for producing rigid polyurethane foams with reduced density by reactinga) organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanates withb) at least one higher-molecular-weight compound having at least two reactive hydrogen atoms and, if desired,c) low-molecular-weight chain extenders and/or crosslinkers in the presence ofd) blowing agents,e) catalysts and, if desired,f) other auxiliaries and/or additives,is described, which comprises using, as blowing agent (d), a mixture of cyclopentane with at least one compound which is homogeneously miscible with cyclopentane selected from the class consisting of the alkanes and/or alkenes having 3 or 4 carbon atoms in the molecule and with the carbon dioxide produced from water and isocyanate, and using, as higher-molecular-weight compound (b) having at least two reactive hydrogen atoms, polyethers which contain aromatics and nitrogen. The use of the rigid foams produced in this way as insulating material is also described.

  • Patent number: 4780509
Abstract: Impact-resistant thermoplastic molding materials based on a resin A containing one or more vinylaromatic monomers are prepared by reacting the resin A (component A) with one or more monomers from the group consisting of the .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated dicarbonyl compounds (component B) by a process in which the reaction is carried out in a melt of A in the presence of B and in the absence of initiators, and the resin A used is one which contains from 3 to 50% by weight, based on A, of one or more elastomers a.sub.1 (rubber) and has been prepared in a conventional manner by polymerizing one or more vinylaromatic monomers of 8 to 12 carbon atoms in the presence of the elastomer a.sub.1 are used for the production of moldings.
