Abstract: Polymeric compounds of formula I comprising boronic acid are provided. These polymeric compounds are prepared either by grafting boronic acid containing compounds (e.g. 4-carboxyphenylboronic acid) to hydrolysed poly(N-vinylformamide) or hydrolysing copolymer(s) obtained by copolymerizing vinyl group containing boronic acid monomers (e.g. -vinylphenyl boronic acid) and N-vinylformamide. These polymeric compounds are used in increasing the wet strength of paper in paper-making processes. Formula (I).
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for preparing emulsion polymer particles of a hollow core/shell structure in the presence of a monomer plasticizer having a ceiling temperature less than 181° C. wherein a polymerization inhibitor or reducing agent is not added to the aqueous emulsion of the core shell particles during the neutralization and swelling stage. The obtained core shell particles are useful in paints, paper coatings, foams, and cosmetics.

Abstract: A fabric packing has a plurality of layers made of a filament of metal or plastic and includes bulges for maintaining the fabric layers at a distance. The bulges have first protuberances of generally trough-shaped configuration and second protuberances formed on the first protuberances, thereby defining respective apexes. The second protuberances are sized smaller than the first protuberances, wherein neighboring fabric layers are supported on one another via the second protuberances.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of operating a liquid ring compressor having an impeller installed eccentrically in a compressor body, with gas being supplied to the liquid ring compressor on a suction side and gas being discharged from the liquid ring compressor on a pressure side. A liquid ring is generated in the liquid ring compressor on the inside of the compressor body by rotation of the impeller. Chambers are formed between blades of the impeller and the liquid ring and gas is drawn into these. The gas is compressed in the chambers which become smaller from the suction side to the pressure side as a result of the rotation of the eccentrically mounted impeller. The compressed gas is ejected on the pressure side. An ionic liquid is used as service liquid for generation of the liquid ring.
