Abstract: A method for coating an uncoated or precoated metallic or plastics substrate by (a) applying an aqueous coating composition (W) whose constituents are free or substantially free from blocked isocyanate groups, which comprises an aqueous dispersion of an epoxide-amine adduct, and which comprises either no crosslinking agent or one or more nonblocked polyisocyanate crosslinking agents, to the substrate, (b) optionally applying one or more further coating compositions, and (c) curing the coating composition (W) and, where appropriate, the further coating composition(s) at temperatures of below 90° C.

Abstract: A curable coating composition includes a uretdione compound having one uretdione group and having a plurality of functional groups selected from crosslinkable groups and groups that modify a coating property. The disclosed coating compositions include those having a binder component having a plurality of active hydrogen-containing groups. When the uretdione compound has a functional group that is a crosslinkable group, the coating composition further includes a crosslinker that has a plurality of crosslinking groups reactive under curing conditions with the crosslinkable group. Abstract: An epoxy resin with amine functionality is manufactured continuously through a first reaction zone in which an epoxide-functional resin is made by ring-opening addition, a second reaction zone in which the resin is reacted with amine to make an epoxide-functional product, and a third reaction zone in which the epoxide functional product is reacted with amine to make the epoxy resin with amine functionality.
