  • Publication number: 20220356171
Abstract: An isoindoline derivative of formula wherein X is N, C—CN or C—COR2; Y is a radical having an acidic group or a basic group; R1 is independently from one another halogen or C1-C4-alkyl, said alkyl is unsubstituted or substituted with halogen; R2 is C1-C4-alkyl, said alkyl is unsubstituted or substituted with halogen; and n is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4, with the proviso that Y does not include an acidic group if X is C—CN or C—COR2, and compositions containing the same are provided. The isoindoline derivative and the pigment composition are suitable, for example, for coloring high molecular mass organic material, especially paints, printing inks, resist formulations for color filter applications, electrophotographic toners, cosmetics, plastics, films or fibers.

  • Patent number: 11292917
Abstract: A golden effect pigment comprising an optionally passivated platelet-shaped metallic substrate and an iron oxide layer, wherein the effect pigment has a hue angle h15 of 67°?h15?78° and a chroma C*15 of ?90 is provided. Further, a golden effect pigment comprising an optionally passivated platelet-shaped metallic substrate and an iron oxide layer, wherein the effect pigment has a hue angle h15 of 67°?h15?78° and a chroma C*45 of ?50 is provided. The golden effect pigments are highly chromatic and suitable for coloring a coating composition such as a paint, a printing ink, an ink, a varnish, plastics, a fiber, a film or a cosmetic preparation, preferably an automotive, an architectural or an industrial coating composition.

  • Patent number: 11084951
Abstract: A process for preparing an aqueous dispersion of pigment particles is described. The pigment particle contains a pigment and an aminoplast resin which surrounds or embeds the pigment. The process includes (i) a step of subjecting an aqueous suspension of a pigment in the form of coarse particles to milling so that the coarse particles are comminuted in the presence of a polymeric dispersant to a particle diameter d(v 0.9) of below 1500 nm, as determined by laser diffraction; and (ii) a step of polycondensation of an aminoplast pre-condensate in the aqueous suspension of the comminuted particles of the pigment obtained in step (i) or during the milling of step (i). The polycondensation is performed in the presence of an acid catalyst at pH of below 5.5. The aqueous dispersion obtained by the process and the use of the aqueous dispersion for tinting waterborne liquid coating composition are also described.
