Abstract: Substituted 7- to 12-membered cycloalkanes which have leaving groups, in particular chlorine atoms, on tertiary ring carbons, a process for preparing them and their use as initiators for cationic polymerization, in particular the cationic polymerization of isobutene are described. Preferred compounds are 1,4-dichloro-1,4-dimethylcyclooctane, 1,5-dichloro-1,5-dimethylcyclooctane and mixtures thereof. They are prepared by addition of hydrogen chloride onto appropriately substituted cycloalkapolyenes.

Abstract: A method for the safe operation of a continuously operated heterogeneously catalyzed gas-phase partial oxidation of an organic compound in a reactor, the composition of the feed gas mixture being controlled by pressure-controlled concentration determination of relevant constituents.
Abstract: A coating composition includes a polyurethane polyol and a cross-linking agent. The coating composition is used in original equipment manufacturer (OEM) coating industries. The polyurethane polyol includes the reaction product of an isocyanate component and a first compound having at least two hydroxyl groups. The two hydroxyl groups of the first compound are separated by at least four carbon atoms. The separation of the two hydroxyl groups of the first compound allows the first compound to react with an amount of the isocyanate required to facilitate drying of the coating composition and reduce a chance that contaminants may settle into the coating composition.
Abstract: A method of matching a color of a powder paint system including a metallic pigment with a color of a liquid paint system includes applying the liquid paint system onto a substrate. A color effect-providing pigment different than the metallic pigment is added to the liquid paint system to match the color of the powder paint system with the color of the liquid paint system. The color of the liquid paint system including the color effect-providing pigment substantially matches the color of the powder paint system that includes the metallic pigment.
Abstract: Copolymers which contain tert-butyl (meth)acrylate, at least one ?,?-ethylenically unsaturated amido-containing compound and acrylic acid incorporated in the form of polymerized units, cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions which contain at least one such copolymer and the use of these copolymers are described.
Abstract: A method repairs damage of a finish on a substrate. The method applies an ultraviolet-curable (UV curable) primer composition to the area of damage and force flashes the primer composition. Light is irradiated to cure the primer composition and form a cured primer layer. Next, a basecoat composition is applied to the cured primer layer. The basecoat composition is force flashed to form a dried basecoat layer. A UV curable clearcoat composition is then applied to the dried basecoat layer, and the UV curable clearcoat composition is force flashed. Light is irradiated to cure the UV curable clearcoat composition and form a cured clearcoat layer.
Abstract: Isolated nucleic acid molecules, designated MP nucleic acid molecules, which encode novel MP proteins from Corynebacterium glutamicum are described. The invention also provides antisense nucleic acid molecules, recombinant expression vectors containing MP nucleic acid molecules, and host cells into which the expression vectors have been introduced. The invention still further provides isolated MP proteins, mutated MP proteins, fusion proteins, antigenic peptides and methods for the improvement of production of a desired compound from C. glutamicum based on genetic engineering of MP genes in this organism.

Abstract: An isolation assembly for use with a vehicle. The isolation assembly includes a collar having a continuous wall. A carriage is disposed within a cavity of the wall and is displaceable relative to the collar. A fastener supports the carriage relative to a frame portion of the vehicle. An insulator is disposed between the carriage and the wall of the collar for coupling the carriage to the collar and for isolating the carriage and the fastener from the collar. The insulator has a first portion and a plurality of second portions. The first portion encapsulates one of the second end surface and the peripheral surface of the carriage. The second portions are movable relative to the first portion about a living hinge to encapsulate the other of the peripheral surface and second end surface of the carriage such that the carriage is adequately isolated from the collar.
