  • Patent number: 5399083
Abstract: A mold closure system for machines processing plastics material, such as blow molding and injection molding machines, includes an essentially U-shaped pedestal having two legs and cross ties connecting them at one of their ends as well as two mold carriers and holding or supporting respectively one mold half, which are disposed between the two free legs of the pedestal 2 so as to be mobile against each other. When the molding tool is closed, the two mold carriers are provided with their abutments at the legs. A special guiding arrangement also is present for guiding the mold carriers parallel to one another to carry their weight. The guidance arrangement includes at least one guide beam or support, parallel to the direction of motion of the mold carrier, wherein the mold carrier are supported upon the guide beam or support to be longitudinally mobile.

  • Patent number: 5388981
Abstract: A closure device for closing a mold tool for manufacturing objects from thermoplastic materials includes a frame including a first yoke, which supports directly one of the two displaceable mold plates supporting the halves of the mold tool, a second yoke remote from the first yoke and spaced tie and pressure rods extending between the first and second yokes. The ends of the tie and pressure rods, proximate to the first yoke, are rigidly connected with the first yoke and the opposite ends of the tie and pressure rods are hingedly connected to the second yoke. The closure device further includes a mechanical drive extending between the second yoke and the other of the two mold plates and a synchronization device for enabling synchronous displacement of the two mold plates.

  • Patent number: 4889477
Abstract: An extruder head for the extrusion of tubular preforms having single-layer or multiple-layer walls, from plastics material which has been plasticized in extruders. The extruder head utilizes the so-called coextrusion system. The extruder head includes a plurality of equal or similar head parts which can be optionally placed one behind the other and each have a central annular discharge and/or passage duct. Each of the head parts has at least one spirally extending distributor which leads via an annular gap to the discharge and/or passage duct. The ends of adjacent head parts facing one another have complementary engagement elements which are used to bring the discharge and/or passage ducts into axial alignment.

  • Patent number: 4883630
Abstract: A method of manufacturing hollow articles of thermoplastic materials. Initially, a compact blank, such as a tablet, a palette, a disk or the like, is formed by injection molding into a mold cavity. The blank may be composed of a plurality of layers which surround each other. Subsequently, the blank is compression-molded in the heated state to reduce its thickness and increase its surface area size. Finally, again in the heated state, the compressed blank is formed into a hollow article by a stretching and blow-molding operation. During each injection-molding step, the volume of the mold cavity is adjusted from a minimum volume to a maximum volume at a rate which corresponds to the rate of injection of the respective plastics material.

  • Patent number: 4878828
Abstract: A closing device for molds for the manufacture of articles of thermoplastic material. Two die plates are linearly displaceable on guide beams and movable by means of a power drive in opposite directions relative to each other. The device includes a frame with at least one tension rod, a compression rod and two yokes connecting the ends of the rod. The rods extend parallel to and the yokes extend transversely of the direction of displacement of the die plates. One yoke has a cantilever arm with which it acts directly on one of the die plates. The other yoke is connected with the second die plate with the intermediate arrangement of the power drive. The frame with the power drive is suspended in a housing which is fixed with respect to space. The housing supports the guide beams which are independent of the frame.

  • Patent number: 4565515
Abstract: A nozzle assembly for extruding a tube has an outer housing sleeve having an inner surface centered on an axis and having an axially forwardly directed front end and a core formed of attached-together front, intermediate, and rear core ports. The front core part lies within the sleeve at the front end thereof and forms with the inner housing surface an annular axially forwardly open extrusion passage. The intermediate core part lies within the sleeve axially behind the front core part and is formed with a pair of grooves opening radially outward into the passage and each defined by a respective annular rear face extending generally perpendicular to the axis, a respective annular front face confronting the rear face and extending generally perpendicular to the axis, and a heart-shaped annular surface axially bridging the respective faces, facing radially forward, and having a portion forming a radially forwardly directed point.
