  • Patent number: 8945521
Abstract: A composition comprising a physical sunscreen, one or more adjuvants, and a carrier oil is provided. The composition also includes at least one of a compound having multiple phenyl groups, a film former or dispersant, and a silicone surfactant. The composition may also include an organic sunscreen. The combination of these ingredients exhibits an unexpected synergistic effect, in that the photoactive properties of the composition (e.g., SPF, UV absorption) are significantly higher than would be predicted based on the values for each of the components individually.

  • Patent number: 8931380
Abstract: A skin engaging member for a razor cartridge includes an erodible first layer and an erodible second layer below the first layer. Each layer includes a lubricious water soluble polymer and can include a water insoluble polymer. The second layer includes a fragrance that can be in the form of microcapsules or a suitable additive of the polymeric material(s). As the first layer erodes during normal use of the razor cartridge the second layer is eventually exposed dissolving or fracturing the microcapsules or otherwise releasing the fragrance. The fragrance is malodorous indicating to e.g. a vision impaired user that the optimal life of the razor cartridge is at or nearing its end. The first layer can also be provided with a non-malodorous fragrance. A third erodible layer can be provided between the first and second layer and can also include a fragrance. End-of-optimal-life indication can be rapid or gradual.

  • Publication number: 20140310960
Abstract: A skin engaging member of a razor cartridge is formed from a precursor of a matrix of a first water soluble polymer and a water insoluble polymer. The precursor includes an upper surface region. A powdered second water soluble polymer is applied to an outer surface of the upper surface region. The second water-soluble polymer is mechanically pressed (e.g. by a roller) to embed the second water soluble polymer in the upper surface region. The upper surface region of the skin engaging member has a locally increased combined first and second water soluble polymer content.

  • Patent number: 8857659
Abstract: The invention is a button cell battery dispensing package (10) including a display card with front panel (12) and rear panel (30) and a flanged cover rotatably disposed with its flange (60) between the front and rear panels (1230). The cover (50) has blisters forming cavities (54) in which the batteries are disposed, with the blisters (56) protruding through an opening in the front panel. The cover (50) has one or more rearward projections (52) that can project into the cutouts (48) in the rear panel (30), to prevent free rotation of the cover (50) and hold a cavity in position adjacent to a battery access opening (36) to facilitate removal of a battery from the cavity (54). The cover (50) can be manually rotated by the user to sequentially index cavities into position adjacent to a battery access opening. The package (10) can include a door that can be closed to retain a cell in a cavity (54) adjacent to the battery access opening or opened to allow removal of the battery.

  • Patent number: 8859146
Abstract: The invention relates to primary electrochemical cells, in addition to methods for manufacturing and discharging the same, having a jellyroll electrode assembly that includes a positive electrode with a coating comprising iron disulfide deposited on a current collector situated on the outermost circumference of the jellyroll, a lithium-based negative electrode and a polymeric separator. More particularly, the invention relates to a cell design which optimizes cell capacity and substantially eliminates premature voltage drop-off on intermittent service testing by eliminating the edge effect through, for example, deliberately relieving stack pressure and/or extending the distance lithium ions proximate to the terminal end of the positive electrode must travel to undergo an electrochemical reaction in that region.

  • Patent number: 8851777
Abstract: A replacement cartridge for a safety razor includes a dispensing head and a reservoir for a flowable shaving aid material. A removable shield is between the reservoir and the dispensing head and the shield interrupts fluid communication between channels of the reservoir and the dispensing head when the shield is in place. Fluid communication is permitted when the shield is removed. Removal of the shield is a onetime event. The shield can be a thermoplastic film. A razor cartridge can be disposed adjacent the dispensing head and the housing of the razor cartridge can be integrally formed with the housing of the dispensing head.

  • Publication number: 20140264158
Abstract: Lithiated composite materials and methods of manufacture are provided that are capable of imparting excellent capacity and greatly improved cycle life in lithium-ion secondary cells. By supplementing a high nickel content lithium storage material with a transition metal oxide lithium storage material or a dopant at relatively low levels, the capacity of the high nickel content lithium storage materials is maintained while cycle life is dramatically improved. These characteristics are promoted by methods of producing the materials that intermix unlithiated precursor materials with a lithium source and sintering the materials together in a single sintering reaction. The resulting lithiated composite materials provide for the first time both high capacity and excellent cycle life to predominantly high nickel content electrodes.
