  • Patent number: 5438857
Abstract: A lock cylinder with key, in which the cylinder has a rotor and a stator with radial tumbler pins and the key has depressions corresponding to the tumbler pins. At least one tumbler pin functions as a control pin (K), in that a zone produced by an offset provides a side coding (F) in addition to the depth coding (T) with a diameter corresponding to an additional coding (B) and the associated key has a depression with sides (8), whose spacing between the sides corresponds to the coded diameter (B) of the control pin offset and whose tumbler pin cooperates on the one hand with the milled coding in the key and on the other hand with control faces formed in the key blank. The aim is to create a copying or forging obstacle by means of a technical measure in the cylinder and on the blank.

  • Patent number: 5418525
Abstract: An individual identification system is a modular combination of a person-related first unit with transmittable/receivable storage elements by way of an antenna, the unit operating alone or together with a further unit having an additional, but different, identification part, and a person-unrelated and instead object-related second unit for the interaction between the person and the object and with a control for checking and maintaining the interaction with which units and objects are crosslinked. The person-related first unit is carrier oriented and is permanently or removably located on a use article, e.g., on a key, in a pass, on or in a watch or any other object which changes position with the person and is not coordinate-fixed. The object-related second unit is place-oriented and is at fixed locations (e.g. building doors), or is arranged in fixed manner on moving objects (e.g. vehicles).

  • Patent number: 4823575
Abstract: A cylinder lock system employs a key which has a pair of projections extending from opposing parallel edges of the key blade. The keyway of the lock has an enlarged slot portion for receiving the projections upon insertion of the key. One of the projections cams pins of an auxiliary pin stack to present a shear line between the pins to permit rotation of the key plug to an unlocked mode. The other projection is received in a groove formed in the shell and is engageable against a surface of the groove upon rotation of the key to retain the key within the keyway.

  • Patent number: 4771620
Abstract: A lock cylinder has a stator rotatably mounted in a lock cylinder casing fixed with respect to the lock, is lockable to said casing and is operatively connectable to the driver on the rotor by means of tumbler pins between rotor and stator. The stator can be locked to the casing by an electromagnetic latch and for rotating the stator together with the rotor, use is made as a blocking catch of the tumbler pins arranged in a selected manner with respect to the shear line therebetween. The locking and unlocking between the locking cylinder casing and the stator is effective if the tumbler pins prevent the relative movement between the rotor and stator.

  • Patent number: 4761976
Abstract: A lock cylinder with mechanical and electromagnetic locking mechanisms, comprising a lock cylinder stator having a mechanical locking mechanism, a bolt movably mounted in a groove in the stator, and a lock cylinder rotor rotatably coupled to the stator and engaged by the mechanical locking mechanism. An electrical control mechanism controls movement of the bolt. A retaining mechanism coupled to the rotor releasably engages the bolt to permit and prevent movement between the stator and the rotor depending on the position of the bolt.

  • Patent number: 4745785
Abstract: A safety lock cylinder is constructed so that a door can be opened or closed manually from one side, preferably the outside by inserting a key in a key guide and from the other side with a motor. The remote control of the lock can be prevented, if desired. By manually closing the door with the key in the key guide, the key and motor are releaseably coupled to the lock operating mechanism so that when the key is inserted the motor is decoupled from the mechanism, preventing danger to a person holding the key.

  • Patent number: 4658105
Abstract: A locking cylinder has contact means with a contact support, including one or more contact elements. Each contact element partially surrounds the circumference and is fixed and secured against axial displacement, but while allowing partial radial movement. A concentric contact guidance member with contact guides for the contact elements is rotatable with respect to a common centre but is fixed with respect to the contact support in the axial direction. The contact elements can be brought into operative connection with these contact guides.

  • Patent number: 4603564
Abstract: A magnetic bolt has a movable and electromagnetically operable locking member which, in conjunction with a locking part arranged on the rotor of a lock cylinder, blocks or releases the rotor, independently of the mechanical tumblers depending on whether the locking member is located in a free-running slot or a locking notch of the locking part. The magnetic bolt is arranged in a recess in the lock cylinder stator and provides an electromagnetic locking operation by energizing a field coil.

  • Patent number: 4343166
Abstract: A lock with a stator and a rotor having a key slot or channel for receiving a flat key has four tumbler rows with pin tumblers, the rows extending in the axial direction of the rotor. The planes containing two of the tumbler rows are inclined by identical angles on opposite sides of the median longitudinal plane of the key and intersect a narrow edge surface of the key adjacent the corners so that the recesses in the key to receive the pin tumblers open on both the narrow side and the flat side key, making it possible to reduce the constructional size of cylinder lock.

  • Patent number: 4289002
Abstract: Recesses in a key are formed by a cutter having a shape corresponding to the shape of the tumbler pin to be associated with the recess. The recesses to receive perpendicularly extending pins are formed with parallel opposed side walls perpendicular to the key surface to decrease the total space required for recesses of greatest step value. Recess for 45.degree. inclined permutations are formed with one flat wall. Methods and apparatus are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4257030
Abstract: In order to determine the identity and authorization of a key which is inserted into a cylinder lock, the key is provided with an information carrier with elements which are magnetically passive and inductively readable and yield permanently stored information. The carrier is fixed to the key blade. A reading head mounted in the lock reads the carrier as the key is moved into or out of the lock. An electronic evaluation circuit uses a micro-processor to interpret the information. The carrier is so designed that alterations made in it after it is coded are immediately detected by the evaluation circuit. A particular relationship of the reading head to the information carrier is described for a particular pattern of loop-shaped information elements on the carrier.

  • Patent number: 4122694
Abstract: A key, for use with a rotary cylinder lock of the type having a rectangular key slot and tumbler pins protruding into one or both wide sides of the slot, has a blade with permutations of recesses of different depths (step values) to receive the pins. The recesses are elongated in the direction of blade insertion. At least one of the recesses is located so that its associated pin engages the recess at the end of the recess when the blade is fully inserted so that, after rotation is started, movement of the blade in the longitudinal direction is positively limited.

  • Patent number: 4100778
Abstract: A key for use with a cylinder lock of the type having tumbler pins protruding into the key slot perpendicularly and at inclined angles wherein elongated recesses to receive the pins are formed in the key with the long dimensions of the recesses extending transversely across the key. The recesses are successively formed with a single conical-tipped cutter shaped like the tumbler pins. The cutter is moved in a U-shaped path into, across and away from the key, leaving sloping sides which form good slide paths for the pins. The recesses can have different depths and can merge stepwise into each other.

  • Patent number: 4027509
Abstract: A cylinder lock for a rotary switch having a rotor, a stator surrounding the rotor and an engagement sleeve surrounding the stator. The engagement sleeve is attached to the fixed portion of the rotary switch and the stator is coupled to the movable portion thereof. Separate latching devices are provided between the stator and engagement sleeve and between the rotor, stator and engagement sleeve. Sets of tumblers are also provided between the rotor and stator and the rotor has a key slot, the position of which indicates the switch position. Insertion and rotation of the key rotates the rotor, disengaging the tumblers and the latching device between the rotor, stator and sleeve, permitting the rotor to rotate alone through a predetermined angle. Further, torque applied to the key causes the latching device between the stator and sleeve to disengage, rotating the stator and the rotary switch to the new switch position at which the stator-sleeve latching device re-engages in that new position.
