Publication number: 20150332372Abstract: Example systems and methods for context-aware recommendation generation are described. In one implementation, item models are built using user preference data of multiple users and item information of multiple items. When a recommendation request corresponding to a user is received, the profile of that user is retrieved from the user profile database. Given the profile of the user and the item models, utility scores are then computed for the candidate items. Our system exploits a novel approach to detect any sudden and significant changes in the preference data of the given user. If a change is detected, the utility scores are adapted to prioritize the user's most recent preferences. The computed utility scores are used as the basis for ranking the items. A subset of items with highest scores is then selected as recommendations and is presented to the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 19, 2014Publication date: November 19, 2015Applicant: Baynote, Inc.Inventors: Negar Hariri, HawWuen Chan

Patent number: 8601023Abstract: The invention comprises a set of complementary techniques that dramatically improve enterprise search and navigation results. The core of the invention is an expertise or knowledge index, called UseRank that tracks the behavior of website visitors. The expertise-index is designed to focus on the four key discoveries of enterprise attributes: Subject Authority, Work Patterns, Content Freshness, and Group Know-how. The invention produces useful, timely, cross-application, expertise-based search and navigation results. In contrast, traditional Information Retrieval technologies such as inverted index, NLP, or taxonomy tackle the same problem with an opposite set of attributes than what the enterprise needs: Content Population, Word Patterns, Content Existence, and Statistical Trends. Overall, the invention encompasses Baynote Search—a enhancement over existing IR searches, Baynote Guide—a set of community-driven navigations, and Baynote Insights—aggregated views of visitor interests and trends and content gaps.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2007Date of Patent: December 3, 2013Assignee: Baynote, Inc.Inventors: Scott Brave, Robert Bradshaw, Jack Jia, Christopher Minson

Publication number: 20130091001Abstract: A system and method are provided for offering product deals to users based on the online behavior and other information of groups of users. This information associated with multiple users within groups and individuals having common interests in products to be purchased online and information associated with a finite set of data elements in the computer application are analyzed to determine a configuration of the data elements such that user access to relevant information and shopping deals is improved. In some embodiments, deals are offered to “swarms” of individuals with common interest and are made active upon acceptance of the deal by a minimum number of buyers. Deals may be automatically generated based on parameters defined by a vendor.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 2, 2012Publication date: April 11, 2013Applicant: Baynote, Inc.Inventors: JACK JIA, Scott Brenner Brave
