Abstract: A system for separating a composite fluid into component parts thereof, including: a centrifuge having a rotor with a separation space and at least two valve members disposed thereon and a container set having a separation container adapted to be disposed in the separation space of the rotor and first and second collection containers connected to the separation container by a first and a second tubes. The tubes are adapted to be disposed in operative relationship with the valve members so that flow through the tubes may be controlled thereby. Three components of the composite fluid may be separated therefrom by the present system and two components may be moved to the collection containers. The container set may further include a third collection container connected to the separation container by a tube, and a third component may thus be moved to this third container.

Abstract: A finger oximeter has a fixed first finger grip member and a second finger grip member that is movable relative to the first fixed finger grip member. The finger grip members are mounted to a casing, with the first finger grip member being fixedly coupled to a top portion of the casing and the second finger grip member being movable vertically within the casing. A force is continuously applied against the movable finger grip member to bias it towards the fixed finger gripping member. This biasing force has sufficient yield so that when a finger is inserted between the two finger grip members, the movable finger grip member would yield to the incoming finger. At the same time the biasing force is of a sufficient magnitude to push the movable finger grip member towards the fixed finger grip member to effect a firm grip of the finger. The biasing force is evenly distributed to the movable finger grip portion to effect a floating finger grip suspension system for the finger oximeter.

Abstract: Incorporated to a finger grip device are an oximeter that measures the SpO2 of the patient and a fingerprint sensor for sensing the fingerprint of the finger from which the SpO2 is measured. The sensed fingerprint is used to identify the patient. By thus establishing the identity of the patient, the measured SpO2 could readily be associated with the patient and appropriately displayed and stored, either at the patient site or remotely. The monitored data could also be readily associated with records of the patient and other physiological could data of the patient that may have been prestored in the controller to which the finger grip device is connected, or in a memory at a remote location. Mistakes in patient identification and the correspondence of wrong patient data to patients are thereby substantially reduced if not eliminated.
