Abstract: An optoelectronic device configured for improved light extraction through a region of the device other than the substrate is described. A group III nitride semiconductor layer of a first polarity is located on the substrate and an active region can be located on the group III nitride semiconductor layer. A group III nitride semiconductor layer of a second polarity, different from the first polarity, can located adjacent to the active region. A first contact can directly contact the group III nitride semiconductor layer of the first polarity and a second contact can directly contact the group III nitride semiconductor layer of the second polarity. Each of the first and second contacts can include a plurality of openings extending entirely there through and the first and second contacts can form a photonic crystal structure. Some or all of the group III nitride semiconductor layers can be located in nanostructures.

Abstract: Technology is disclosed herein for a storage system and method for multi-stage discharge of a read pass voltage. In an aspect, the voltage on unselected word lines is reduced from the read pass voltage to an intermediate voltage during a first stage near the end of a read operation. A read reference voltage on the selected word line may be changed (e.g., increased) to the intermediate voltage during the first stage. During a second stage the voltage on the unselected word lines may be reduced from the intermediate voltage to a final voltage. The voltage on the selected word line may also be decreased during the second stage from the intermediate voltage to the final voltage. The multi-stage discharge of the read pass voltage may reduce peak current consumption (e.g., peak Icc) in a final portion of the read operation.

Abstract: Rather than having unused die blocks, partial die blocks can contribute to a super block. In so doing, as much of the available physical capacity of the data storage device may be achieved. The result could be an increase in over provisioning (OP) and good capacity for the data storage device or an increase in die yield. An increase in good capacity through the use of previously unused physical blocks would lead to an increase in performance and endurance. A yield increase would result in a reduction in cost per die and per data storage device. A partial die block is the solution.

Abstract: An adder with first and second majority gates. For a 1-bit adder, output from a 3-input majority gate is inverted and input two times to a 5-input majority gate. Other inputs to the 5-input majority gate are same as those of the 3-input majority gate. The output of the 5-input majority gate is a sum while the output of the 3-input majority gate is the carry. Multiple 1-bit adders are concatenated to form an N-bit adder. The input signals are driven to first terminals of non-ferroelectric capacitors while the second terminals are coupled to form a majority node. Majority function of the input signals occurs on this node. The majority node is then coupled to a first terminal of a non-linear polar capacitor. The second terminal of the capacitor provides the output of the logic gate. A reset mechanism initializes the non-linear polar capacitor before addition function is performed.
