Abstract: A double containment fitting for connection to a double containment tubing system with an outer, secondary containment tubing surrounding an inner, primary tubing. The fitting includes a fitting body defining a central passageway, the fitting body having a center portion disposed between opposed first and second body ports. The fitting body is configured to receive the tubing system into the first body port. The central passageway has a diameter in the first port selected to allow the secondary tubing into the first body port. A connection system mechanically secures the secondary tubing to the first body port.

Abstract: Provided are methods for rapidly inactivating a pathogen, or for producing a vaccine composition containing an inactivated noninfectious pathogen having retained antigenicity and/or immunogenicity, comprising exposing the pathogen to a chemical inactivating agent (e.g., one or more chemical oxidizing, alkylating or crosslinking agents) in the presence of inorganic polyatomic oxyanions in an amount and for a time sufficient to render the pathogen noninfectious while enhancing retention of pathogen antigenicity and/or immunogenicity relative to that retained by contacting the pathogen with the chemical inactivating agent alone. The methods are broadly applicable to pathogens having RNA or DNA genomes (e.g., including viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites).
Abstract: Adaptable fishing lure kits, systems, and devices are provided. An adaptable fishing lure system may include a fishing lure body having a generally cylindrical shape, a fin member replaceably attachable to the fishing lure body, via a slot formed within an outer periphery surface of the lure body, and a channel chamber longitudinally extending through and within at least a portion of a length of the fishing lure body. The slot providing access to the channel, at least one cartridge providing an attractant into the chamber formed within the fishing lure body. Alternative use of an adhesive and means for securing a fin member and attractant are provided.
Abstract: Embodiments include reusable stick deodorant containers and associated inserts. The container includes a rotatable detachable base that allows an empty insert to be removed and replaced with a full insert. Each insert includes a screw and a follower that engages the screw. The screw engages the detachable base following insertion into the container, so that rotating the base causes the screw to rotate, moving the follower through the insert and expelling the end of a deodorant stick that is disposed upon the follower.
Abstract: A system is described for presenting information relating to lifting and moving a load object with a vehicle. Upon the lifting, a dimensioner determines a size and a shape of the load object, computes a corresponding spatial representation, and generates a corresponding video signal. During the moving, an imager observes a scene in front of the vehicle, relative to its forward motion direction, and generates a video signal corresponding to the observed scene. The imager has at least one element moveable vertically, relative to the lifting. A display renders a real time visual representation of the scene observed in front of the vehicle based on the corresponding video signal and superimposes a representation of the computed spatial representation of the load object.
Abstract: A large highly parallel database management system includes thousands of nodes storing huge volume of data. The database management system includes multiple query optimizers for determining low cost execution plans for queries. The database management system is adapted to receive a data query. An execution plan generator component of the database management system generates an initial execution plan for the query. The initial execution plan is fed as input to more than one query optimizers. Each optimizer starts with the initial execution plan, generates alternative execution plans, and determines a satisfactory execution plan that incurs the lowest cost. The database management system compares the selected execution plans by the optimizers and selects one with the lowest cost. The multiple query optimizers run in parallel.
Abstract: A ketone measurement and analysis system provides various features for enabling health program participants to interpret their ketone measurements, such as breath acetone measurements. One such feature breaks down ketone measurements into causal components. For example, the system may generate and display an estimate of how much of a participant's ketone measurement is attributable to stored fat metabolism versus consumption of a “confounding substance” such as dietary fat and/or exogenous ketones. The system may also estimate the contributions of specific confounding substances, and/or the contributions of other factors or events (such as exercise, interrupted sleep, a missed medication, etc.) that affect ketone levels. Another feature involves the generation and display of target ketone levels that are personalized for the participants. The system may generate the measurement breakdowns and target ketone levels by applying data mining algorithms to aggregated data of many program participants.
Abstract: An endoscope and methods of use thereof is provided with at least one multi-functional, multi-directional arm supporting a plurality of imaging, lighting and other sensory elements. The multi-functional arms provide a mounting platform upon which cameras, lights and sensors may be mounted to generate multiple-angled images and video, arena-like lighting and other data relevant to performing a diagnostic or MIS procedure. The multi-directional arms may be inserted through a single portal in the endoscope and deployed in multiple directions from a single portal once inserted into a body cavity. The pitch, roll, length and curvature of each of the extending arms may be individually or jointly adjusted to create a customized view of an internal space during an endoscopic procedure. The extending arms may also include communication elements to wirelessly transmit the images and other data generated by the sensory elements to a remote computing and display device.
Abstract: The present invention relates to ellagic acid formulations for performing coagulation assays that are highly stable for long term storage and reduce assay time. Particularly, aspects of the present invention are directed to a composition and method of preparing ellagic acid in a highly soluble format for use in a coagulation assay. For example, the ellagic acid may be solubilized in one or more of sodium hydroxide, methanol, a polyether compound, particularly polyethylene glycol, polyethylene oxide, or polyoxyethylene, and a cyclodextrin guest-host complex.

Abstract: A communication device includes a first body, a second body, a first audio module, and a second audio module. The second body is rotatably connected to the first body. The first audio module is disposed on the first body. The second audio module is at least partially disposed on the first body. When the second body rotates relatively to the first body to be in a first state to switch the communication device to be in a first operation mode, at least a portion of the first audio module is turned on, and the second audio module is turned off. When the second body rotates relatively to the first body to be in a second state to switch the communication device to be in a second operation mode, the first audio module is turned off, and the second audio module is turned on.
Abstract: A rotor system for an aircraft including a driving member; an externally driven rim configured to be rotated by the driving member; a hub having a hub axis, the hub including a rotatable housing and a non-rotatable housing; a plurality of rotor blade assemblies rotatably coupled to the rotatable housing of the hub and the externally driven rim such that rotation of the externally driven rim rotates the plurality of rotor blade assemblies about the hub axis, each rotor blade assembly having a rotor blade rotatable about a respective pitch change axis; and a pitch control mechanism operably associated with the hub and the plurality of rotor blade assemblies, wherein, actuation of the pitch control mechanism rotates each rotor blade assembly about the respective pitch change axis to collectively control the pitch of the rotor blade, thereby generating a variable thrust output. Also, a method of operating the rotor system.
Abstract: A method may designing electronic circuits is provided. The method may include generating a first user interface for displaying, at a client, a plurality of graphical elements for creating a state diagram. A scaffold may be added to the state diagram in response to the scaffold being selected from the plurality of graphical elements. A first state bubble may be attached to the scaffold in response to the first state bubble being selected from the plurality of graphical elements. A dimension of the scaffold and/or a position of the first state bubble on the scaffold may be adjusted in response to a second state bubble being added and/or removed from the state diagram. A second user interface may be generated for displaying, at the client, the state diagram. Related systems and articles of manufacture, including computer program products, are also provided.
Abstract: A method is provided for addressing myopia progression or inclination to myopia in which the influence of accommodative lag stress on myopia is reduced or eliminated to counter eye axial length growth. User depth of focus is increased to relieve stress from overall accommodative effort and stress from accommodation and accommodative lag to retard myopia progression and enable continuous and long tem treatment by the user.
