Abstract: A method and compound for treating skeletal muscle mass deficiency in a human subject are disclosed. The composition is an oligomer of morpholino subunits and phosphorus-containing intersubunit linkages joining a morpholino nitrogen of one subunit to a 5? exocyclic carbon of an adjacent subunit, contains between 10-40 nucleotide bases, has a base sequence effective to hybridize to an expression-sensitive region of processed or preprocessed human myostatin RNA transcript, identified, in its processed form, by SEQ ID NO:6, and is capable of uptake by target muscle cells in the subject. In practicing the method, the compound is administered in an amount and at a dosage schedule to produce an overall reduction in the level of serum myostatin measured in the patient, and preferably to bring the myostatin level within the a range determined for normal, healthy individuals.

Abstract: A fixing device includes a cylindrical rotatable fixing belt, a flat heater, a heater holding part, a pressuring member, and a connector. In the flat heater, an electrode part, a feeder and a heat generating part are formed in the same face state. The heater holding part holds the flat heater so that the heat generating part faces to an inner circumference face of the fixing belt. The pressuring member sandwiches the fixing belt with the flat heater. The connector has a contacting portion coming into contact with the electrode part. The feeder has a portion arranged at a near side from the electrode part in an attaching direction of the connector. The heater holding part includes a protecting portion covering the portion of the feeder arranged at the near side from the electrode part.

Abstract: A band-gap reference circuit includes a band-gap voltage reference core to provide a reference voltage; a low impedance block; three capacitors; two transmission gates to connect and disconnect the capacitors; and two digital control blocks. The three capacitors includes an output capacitor connected at an output of the low impedance block to ground; a small capacitor connected to an output of the band-gap voltage reference core; and a large capacitor connected to the two transmission gates. The band-gap voltage reference core includes an operational amplifier, wherein an output of the operational amplifier connects to an input of the low impedance block and the small capacitor, wherein the small capacitor is also connected to ground; and a combination of bipolar junction transistors, MOS-FET, resistors, capacitors, or FinFET devices that provides a reference voltage.

While providing the session, image data for the session may be obtained, and responsive to the image data for the session, authentication may be performed based on a determination whether the image data for the session includes a facial image that matches the user credential. Responsive to success of the authentication based on the image data for the session, the session for the user of the application may continue to be provided. A server can receive signal-reception-related information from set-top boxes (STBs) in a particular geographical region, where a STB: receives signals having a predefined pattern, generates a comparison of the predefined pattern to reference patterns stored on the STB, generates the signal-reception-related information based on the comparison, and sends the signal-reception-related information. The server can determine an outage status for the particular geographical region based on the signal-reception-related information. The server can generate an output based on the outage status. The output is configured to provide information related to the outage status of the particular geographical region and information for possible responses related to the outage status. The server can send the output.

Abstract: As part of providing the services to users, an online system stores multiple records that are accessible by users of the online system. When a user provides a search query, the online system extracts morphological and dictionary features from the query. The online system provides the extracted features to a machine learning model as an input. The machine learning model outputs a score for each potential entity type that indicates a likelihood that the search query is for a record associated with the entity type. The output from the machine learning model is used by the online system to select one or more entity types that the user is likely searching for. The online system searches the stored records based on the search query but limits the searching to records associated with at least one of the selected entity types.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a portable liquid dispenser, preferably for perfume or the like, which can be easily refilled. Many portable perfume dispensers are disposable instead of being refillable. We have invented a system that has all of the functionality of a portable dispenser—such as an atomizer or a roll-on applicator—but also provides access so that the dispenser is easily refilled from a larger container. Therefore, we have also invented a method for refilling a portable liquid dispenser.

Abstract: Provided herein is a non-naturally occurring microbial organism having a methanol metabolic pathway (MMP) that can enhance the availability of reducing equivalents in the presence of methanol. Such reducing equivalents can be used to increase the product yield of organic compounds produced by the microbial organism, such as 1,4-butanediol (BDO). Also provided herein are methods for using such an organism to produce BDO.

A system for the application of microwave energy to a tissue can include, in some embodiments, a signal generator adapted to generate a microwave signal having predetermined characteristics, an applicator connected to the generator and adapted to apply microwave energy to tissue, the applicator comprising one or more microwave antennas and a tissue interface, a vacuum source connected to the tissue interface, a cooling source connected to said tissue interface, and a controller adapted to control the signal generator, the vacuum source, and the coolant source. The tissue may include a first layer and a second layer, the second layer below the first layer, and the controller is configured such that the system delivers energy such that a peak power loss density profile is created in the second layer.
