Abstract: A device can be configured to receive speech input from a user. The speech input can include a command for accessing a restricted feature of the device. The speech input can be compared to a voiceprint (e.g., text-independent voiceprint) of the user's voice to authenticate the user to the device. Responsive to successful authentication of the user to the device, the user is allowed access to the restricted feature without the user having to perform additional authentication steps or speaking the command again. If the user is not successfully authenticated to the device, additional authentication steps can be request by the device (e.g., request a password).
Abstract: A connector for a coaxial cable includes a coupler configured to engage another coaxial cable connector. The connector further includes a body disposed at least partially within the coupler. The connector further includes an outer conductor engager made of a conductive material disposed within the body and the coupler. The connector further includes a biasing element on an interior of the body. During a coupling of the connector to the coaxial cable: a connector end of the outer conductor engager moves axially relative to the body, the outer conductor engager is compressed by the biasing element, and an interior of the outer conductor engager is inwardly compressed against an outer conductor of the coaxial cable.
Abstract: A method of mixing microphone signals. First and second microphone signals are obtained from respective first and second microphones. In at least one affected subband, the first and second microphone signals are mixed to produce first and second mixed signals. At least one reference subband of the first and second microphone signals is processed in order to identify a binaural cue between the first and second microphone signals, the reference subband being distinct from the or each affected subband. The affected subband in the first and second mixed signals is modified in order to re-emphasize the identified binaural cue.
Abstract: A medical device system includes a medical device configured to be carried by a patient and a plurality of controllers capable of controlling operation of the medical device. Each controller has an active state in which the controller is in communication with, and controls the operation of, the medical device, and a passive state in which the controller is not controlling operation of the medical device. At any given time only one of the plurality of controllers will be in the active state and a remainder of the plurality of controllers will be in the passive state. The active controller may be configured to continually communicate with the remainder of passive controllers, without using the medical device as an intermediary, to update the information stored in the memories of the passive controllers to match the information in the memory of the active controller.
