Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided to calibrate a closed-loop envelop tracking system for a power amplifier of a wireless transmitter using standardized modulation signals. In one novel aspect, a closed-loop adaptive method is used to track changes in PA nonlinearity due to environmental or circuitry changes during operating condition using standardized modulation signals. In one embodiment, the PA supply voltage compensation lookup table (LUT) and/or the phase compensation LUT is updated during normal operation to sustain good linearity and efficiency performance. In another novel aspect, the PA target response is adjusted in response to changes in PA-related system configuration, such as changes in PA bias settings, and/or indicators measured from the transmitter such as changes in impedance or temperature changes for the RF module or the PA module. The PA supply voltage compensation LUT and/or the phase LUT is updated accordingly upon adjustment of the PA target response.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for assessing the conditions of LEDs and power supplies of solid state lighting systems. The techniques can be used, for example, to measure the capacitance of an output capacitor C in a switch-mode power supply (SMPS), and to measure the condition of the LEDs being driven by that power supply. In some cases, this assessment can be implemented in a lighting controller that controls the lighting system, which may be configured to simultaneously determine C and the conditions of LEDs. In one example case, the techniques can be implemented, for instance, in a micro-controller operating the lighting system. A lighting system implementing the techniques can be periodically assessed so as to provide real-time diagnostic capability. Numerous example embodiments of SMPS LED lighting systems will be apparent in light of this disclosure.
Abstract: A method for producing a thermoplastic resin composition includes melt-blending 50 to 80 parts by mass of a crystalline polyester resin and 20 to 50 parts by mass of an amorphous polyester resin with an extruder, thereby producing a first polyester resin compound. The method further includes melt-blending 90 to 99 parts by mass of the crystalline polyester resin and 1 to 10 parts by mass of a styrene-acrylonitrile-glycidyl methacrylate terpolymer with the extruder or a different extruder, thereby producing a second polyester resin compound. The method further includes compounding 1 to 10 parts by mass of the first polyester resin compound, 1 to 10 parts by mass of the second polyester resin compound, and respective predetermined amounts of a polycarbonate resin, a flame retardant, an antidrip agent, an antioxidant, a lubricant and a toughening agent.
Abstract: The present disclosure involves a method including: receiving a request to access an object from a user; prompting the user to go to a target location; receiving feedback from the user with respect to the user's location; determining, electronically by a processor, whether the user has reached the target location; granting access of the object to the user in response to the determining. The present disclosure involves a system including: a storage storing an electronic item; an electronic communications interface that: detects a request to access the item from an entity and prompts the entity to go to a target location in response to the request; a computer processor that: analyzes feedback from the entity with respect to the entity's location, determines whether the entity's location is sufficiently close to the target location, and grants or denies access of the item to the entity based on the determination.

Abstract: A system for servicing streaming media requests. The system includes stream director nodes and intelligent stream engine nodes, such as permanent storage devices with network interfaces. The stream director node receives a streaming media request and enqueues the request until all resources on a path from the stream engine node having the media object being requested to the user/client system have been reserved. Once reserved, the enqueued request is then serviced by requesting the stream object from the stream engine node, which then transfers the requested stream object between the stream engine node and the user/client system over the prepared path without involving the stream director node. Upon completion, the prepared path is torn down. In one embodiment the prepared path is a Label Switched Path. A provision is made for balancing the load among the stream engine nodes by duplicating stream objects on other stream engine nodes.
Abstract: A device is described having a body and a connector assembly. The connector assembly is positioned at one end of the body and includes a set of contacts and a cover having a façade. The cover also has a set of openings to enable at least a portion of the set of contacts to be exposed on the façade. The cover is at least partially moveable inwards towards the set of contacts when force is applied to the façade.

Abstract: A filter for industrial coating filtration systems. The filter has a housing made up of a peripheral wall extending around the periphery. The housing is preferably made of a suitably rigid material. A preferably rigid support backing is mounted within the housing. The support backing has a planar configuration with openings formed through it so that gas can flow through without substantial resistance. The preferably planar sheet of which the support backing is made is pleated. The pleated support backing defines a series of panels, each of which is angled to a next adjacent panel. Filtration media is mounted to the support backing, end caps are attached to the ends of the support backing to maintain the pleated configuration, and the assembly is inserted into the housing, which can have end flaps to seal using tape or adhesive.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a gas line electron beam exciter, gas line electron beam excitation system and method for exciting a gas using an electron beam exciter. The electron beam exciter generally comprises a variable density electron source for generating a cloud of electrons in an electron chamber and a variable energy electron extractor for accelerating electrons from the electron chamber as an electron beam and into an effluent stream for fluorescing species in the effluent. The electron density of the electron beam is variably controlled by adjusting the excitation power applied to the variable density electron source. The electrons in the electron chamber reside at a reference electrical potential of the chamber, typically near ground electrical potential.

Abstract: A method for authenticating instant lottery tickets for entry into a lottery activity includes providing each lottery ticket with a validation code that links the lottery ticket to an electronic validation file in a database, wherein the validation file contains a predetermined outcome of the lottery ticket and a status of the lottery ticket. Each lottery ticket is provided with a registration code separate from the validation code, wherein the registration code is used to register the lottery ticket in the lottery activity. The registration code is generated as an encrypted form of the validation code for each respective ticket. With a server and upon receipt of the registration code for entry into the lottery activity, the registration code is decrypted to determine the validation code assigned to the lottery ticket. The validation file associated with the decrypted registration code is accessed and used to verify authenticity and status of the lottery ticket required for entry into the lottery activity.
