Abstract: Techniques are provided for generating adjustment factors, on a per-demographic-group basis, to compensate for errors in audience verification statistics caused by co-usage of devices. The adjustment factors are based on a comparison of (a) per-group counts produced by applying one audience verification approach to a set of exposures, to (b) per-group counts produced by applying another audience verification approach to the same set of exposures. For example, the first per-group counts may be produced under the assumption that the user to whom content is exposed is the owner of the device, and the second per-group counts may be produced by obtaining demographic information directly or indirectly from a user at the time the user is exposed to the content.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and apparatus adapted to control a temperature of a process liquid in a metering line of an instrument. In one aspect, a temperature-controlled liquid delivery apparatus has a pre-flux member operable to control a first temperature set point SP1 of the process liquid in a flow path between a feed tank and a metering apparatus, a metering line connecting the metering apparatus and a probe, and a line flux member directly thermally coupled to the metering line and operable to control a second temperature set point SP2 of the process liquid contained in the metering line. Methods of operating the system are provided, as are other aspects.

Abstract: A cable reel can improve transfer of power and data between a static frame and a cable wound around a rotatable element. The cable reel can use torsional springs to store mechanical energy and also to electrically couple the cable to a node within the static frame. This electrical coupling can be used to pass power. The cable reel can use a data transfer apparatus to transfer data between the frame and the cable. This apparatus may comprise two capacitive plates that together form a capacitor, one connected to the frame and one connected to the rotatable element. Alternatively, this apparatus may comprise an optically isolated zone in which an optical transmitter may communicate data to an optical receiver over free-space optical communications. The data can be transferred without physical contact between the frame and rotatable element, even while the rotatable element may rotate relative to the static frame.

Abstract: The disclosed technology generally relates to apparatuses and methods of operating the same, and more particularly to cross point memory arrays and methods of accessing memory cells in a cross point memory array. In one aspect, an apparatus comprises a memory array. The apparatus further comprises a memory controller configured to cause an access operation, where the access operation includes application of a first bias across a memory cell of the memory array for a selection phase of the access operation and application of a second bias, lower in magnitude than the first bias, across the memory cell for an access phase of the access operation. The memory controller is further configured to cause a direction of current flowing through the memory cell to be reversed between the selection phase and the access phase.

Abstract: An apparatus for endovascularly replacing a patient's heart valve comprises an anchor having an outer surface and an inner surface. The anchor is expandable from a collapsed delivery configuration to a fully deployed configuration. A first locking element and a second locking element are attached to the inner surface of the anchor. The first locking element is engageable with the second locking element. At least one of the first locking element and the second locking element has a curved outer surface. Methods for attaching the second locking element to the anchor are also provided.

Abstract: A method and apparatus to predict the most probable path of a vehicle along a roadway which may contain a junction splitting the roadway into a rootpath and one or more sub-paths, each containing one or more lanes. The method and apparatus also process vehicle sensor information pertaining to driver corrections, road boundary detection, lane marker detection, map information availability, and road surface quality at the current position of the vehicle as well as from previous passes of the vehicle past the same location and other vehicles passing the same location to provide a warning to the driver to retake control of the vehicle if information used by the automatic vehicle control will become unavailable a predetermined travel distance ahead of the current position of the vehicle.

Abstract: Multiple data paths may be available to a data management system for transferring data between a primary storage device and a secondary storage device. The data management system may be able to gain operational advantages by performing load balancing across the multiple data paths. The system may use application layer characteristics of the data for transferring from a primary storage to a backup storage during data backup operation, and correspondingly from a secondary or backup storage system to a primary storage system during restoration.

Abstract: A method for labelling a tissue section is provided. In certain embodiments, the method may comprise: (a) labeling a formalin-fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue section using a first set of labeling reagents that comprises a first primary antibody and a first labeled secondary antibody; (b) treating the labeled tissue with a protease, thereby digesting the first primary antibody and/or the first labeled secondary antibody and separating the label from the FFPE tissue section; (c) washing the tissue section to remove the separated label and the protease; and (c) labeling the FFPE tissue section using a second set of labeling reagents that comprises a second primary antibody and a second labeled secondary antibody. A kit for performing the method is also provided.

The personalized offer is redeemed by scanning a loyalty card at a point-of-sale station of the retailer. A commission is paid to the retailer to load the personalized offer on the loyalty card.

NB generates second audio signal by beamforming audio signals from first and second audio pick-up channels. First and second audio signals include frequencies in first and second frequency regions. Selector's output noise estimate may be a) second noise estimate in the first frequency region, and b) first noise estimate in the second frequency region. Attenuator attenuates first audio signal in accordance with output noise estimate. Other embodiments are also described.

Abstract: A set-top box or media server device may operate to switch the source of incoming television content to, for example, improve power efficiency of the device. In one implementation, the device may receiving a television channel as part of a modulated television signal and extract, by a tuner associated with the device, the television channel from the modulated television signal. The device may determine to switch reception of the television channel from the modulated television signal to a packet-based video stream corresponding to the television channel. The device may provide the television channel, as received via the packet-based video stream, to the display device in place of the television channel received via the modulated television signal.
