  • Patent number: 8823457
Abstract: Systems and methods for protecting circuits from short-circuit events are described. The system may include, for example, first circuitry that receives an output signal from a power amplifier to be protected from a short-circuit event. The first circuitry mirrors an output stage of the power amplifier and provides a mirrored current that mirrors an output stage current of the power amplifier. Second circuitry is operatively coupled to the first circuitry and to the power amplifier. The second circuitry includes, for example, a comparator circuit that compares the mirrored current to a reference current. A first transistor of the comparator circuit is in a mirror configuration with respect to a second transistor of the power amplifier. The second transistor sinks or sources current into the power amplifier to protect the power amplifier from the short-circuit event.

  • Patent number: 8822848
Abstract: A POS-based checkout/scale system including system housing having a vertical housing section with a vertical scanning window, and a horizontal housing section. An electronic weigh scale subsystem is integrated with the system housing, and has a weigh platter supported above the horizontal housing section by a pair of cantilever-type weigh scale arms operably connected to an electronic load cell module. During a first mode of operation a powered support mechanism allows the cantilever-type weigh scale arms to bear the full weight of the weigh platter and any items supported thereon so that the electronic load cell module can accurately measure the weight of items on the weigh platter, and generate weigh data for transmission to the host computer system. During a second mode of operation, the powered support mechanism automatically prevents the electronic load cell module from experiencing the weight of items placed on the weigh platter.

  • Patent number: 8823211
Abstract: A photovoltaic inverter is provided, having a controller, an auxiliary power and a buffering element. The auxiliary power provides power to the controller. The buffering element is coupled between a photovoltaic panel and the auxiliary power such that the buffering element stores energy output from the photovoltaic panel first during a startup period, and then stops storing energy output from the photovoltaic panel and provides the stored energy to the auxiliary power, thereby performing a maximum power point tracking procedure on the photovoltaic panel during a first period following the startup period, and feeds energy output from the photovoltaic panel to the auxiliary power during a second period following the first period thereby continuously performing the maximum power point tracking procedure on the photovoltaic panel by the controller.

  • Patent number: 8824029
Abstract: A color calibration method and an image processing device using the same are provided. The method includes: obtaining a first image of a calibration card having color blocks, each of which corresponds to a standard value; obtaining first sensing values according to the first image, wherein each of the first sensing values corresponds to one of the standard values; generating a calibration table according to the first sensing values and the standard values; determining if a recursive condition is satisfied. The method also includes: obtaining a second image of the calibration card if the recursive condition is not satisfied; obtaining second sensing values according to the second image; adjusting the second sensing values according to the calibration table to generate third sensing values; updating the calibration table according to the third sensing values and the standard values until the recursive condition is satisfied. Accordingly, the calibration table is generated automatically.

  • Patent number: 8825822
Abstract: A system and method for traversing a firewall for a voice-over-IP session or other communication session uses four main components: a relay agent, and NAT 30Agent, a SIP proxy and a application server. The SIP proxy is located in the public network and SIP signaling messages are routed through the SIP proxy. The sever opens ports in the firewall for signaling between the SIP proxy and the relay agent behind the firewall. The application server also opens ports in the firewall for media traffic. The NAT 30Agent disposed in the path from the firewall to the Internet filters media packets and changes the public source address of the media packets to a predetermined address associated with the open media port.

  • Patent number: 8826450
Abstract: The invention provides for at least three processes for detecting the probability of abusive use of a message account for sending large amounts of unsolicited messages, such as spam, to other message accounts. For example, information provided at registration for a new message account can be processed to determine the likelihood of abusive use of that message account. Also, inbound messages can be processed to determine if the message account that sent the inbound message is abusing the use of that message account. Additionally, outbound messages can be processed to determine if the message account that is attempting to send an outbound message is abusing the use of that message account. Each of these three processes can operate separately or in any combination with each other to further improve the probability that abusive use of a message account will be detected promptly and accurately.

  • Patent number: 8825929
Abstract: A system and method for processing seismic data on one or more co-processor devices that are operatively coupled to a host computing system via a communications channel. The compression of input data transmitted to the co-processor device and/or the size of the storage provided on the co-processor device may enhance the efficiency of the processing of the data on the peripheral device by obviating a bottleneck caused by the relatively slow transfer of data between the host computing system and the co-processor device or by the relatively slow transfer of data within the co-processor device between the co-processor information storage and the co-processor.
