Abstract: A method for verifying power management of an integrated circuit design includes estimating a current load requirement of clocked modules in the circuit design based on the clock frequency and a predefined current load model. The voltage supplied to the circuit design is monitored. A first voltage regulator provides additional current drive to the circuit design when the supplied voltage drops below a threshold value of a full throttle run mode of the circuit design. A second voltage regulator is enabled to boost a response time of the first voltage regulator when the voltage drops below the threshold value.

Abstract: A solution for evaluating a sample gas for a presence of a trace gas, such as ozone, is provided. The solution uses an ultraviolet source and an ultraviolet detector mounted in a chamber. The chamber can include reflecting walls and/or structures configured to guide ultraviolet light. A computer system can operate the ultraviolet source in a high power pulse mode and acquire data corresponding to an intensity of the ultraviolet radiation detected by the ultraviolet detector while a sample gas is present in the chamber. Using the data, the computer system can determine a presence and/or an amount of the trace gas in the sample gas.

Abstract: A system for distracting two tissue surfaces away from one another within a spine, involving a plurality of biocompatible and generally rectangular spinal inserts configured to be successively stacked within a spine to distract the two tissues surfaces away from one another. Each spinal insert has a generally planar top surface having a leading edge and a trailing edge, a generally planar bottom surface disposed generally parallel to the top surface and including a leading edge and a trailing edge, and a beveled surface extending from at least one of the leading edge of the planar top surface and the leading edge of the planar bottom surface. The beveled surface is configured to allow a currently inserted spinal insert to be positioned at least one of above and below a previously introduced spinal insert to distract the two tissue surfaces.
Abstract: In a method for making a GaN article, an epitaxial nitride layer is deposited on a single-crystal substrate. A 3D nucleation GaN layer is grown on the epitaxial nitride layer by HVPE under a substantially 3D growth mode. A GaN transitional layer is grown on the 3D nucleation layer by HVPE under a condition that changes the growth mode from the substantially 3D growth mode to a substantially 2D growth mode. A bulk GaN layer is grown on the transitional layer by HVPE under the substantially 2D growth mode. A polycrystalline GaN layer is grown on the bulk GaN layer to form a GaN/substrate bi-layer. The GaN/substrate bi-layer may be cooled from the growth temperature to an ambient temperature, wherein GaN material cracks laterally and separates from the substrate, forming a free-standing article.
Abstract: Mobile devices and methods to facilitate the motion characterization of a welding element. A mobile device is used to capture video of a rotating welding element and the video is processed by a software application residing on the mobile device to determine a rate of rotation of the rotating welding element. The software application may perform further processing to determine a linear rate of motion as derived from the determined rate of rotation. The rate of rotation and/or the linear rate of motion may be displayed to a user of the mobile device on a display screen of the mobile device. Such methods may aid a user in calibrating a piece of welding equipment.

The loading plate includes a sheet loading member that supports a downstream side of the sheet in a sheet feed direction, and can be raised and lowered with respect to a sheet transportation path, and a cover member that is located between the sheet loading member and the upper surface portion. The cover member covers a gap formed between the sheet loading member and the upper surface portion when the sheet loading member is in a raised position.
Abstract: A method for displaying patient data includes receiving physiological data from a medical monitoring device. The medical monitoring device obtains the physiological data from a patient. A determination is made as to whether patient identification information and room location information have been received for the patient. When it is determined that both the patient identification information and the room location information for the patient have not been received, the physiological data is displayed at a temporary location on a display screen of a medical display device.
