  • Patent number: 8075237
Abstract: A multi-level vehicle lift comprising a first platform mounted for movement between a lowered position and a raised position. A second platform is positioned below the first platform and is coupled to the first platform by a lift member such that movement of the first platform above a first raised position causes movement of the second platform. A third platform is positioned below the second platform and coupled to the first platform by a lift member such that movement of the first platform above a second raised position causes movement of the third platform A pit may be positioned below the platforms, and the lower-most platform is in the pit when the first platform is in the lowered position. Preferably, the pit is recessed into a ground surface, and an upper surface of the first platform is substantially flush with the ground surface when in the lowered position.

  • Patent number: 8075502
Abstract: A system for visually indicating, in real time or post hoc, values of a physical property detected over a period of time along a dimension of an organism to a user on a temporal plot and a profile plot, either individually or concurrently. The detected values may be visually indicated on the temporal plot using any of a variety of techniques, including, but not limited to, a contour technique, a line trace technique or a mesh plot technique. Further, the detected values may be visually indicated on the profile plot using any of a variety of techniques, including, but not limited to a contour technique, a line trace technique or a histogram technique. To provide a finer spatial resolution, values may be interpolated for locations between the locations at which values were detected, and these values may be displayed on the temporal plot and the profile plot.

  • Patent number: 8076348
Abstract: [Problem] To provide a compound which can be used in the prevention and/or treatment of diseases in which 5-HT2B receptor and 5-HT7 receptor are concerned, particularly in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and/or prevention of migraine. [Means for Resolution] It was found that an acylguanidine derivative having a tricyclic structure or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof has a strong antagonism to 5-HT2B receptor and 5-HT7 receptor. In addition, the compound of the present invention having antagonism to both of the receptors showed superior pharmacological action in comparison with the case of the single use of an antagonist selective for either one of the receptors. Based on the above, the compound of the present invention is useful in preventing and/or treating diseases in which 5-HT2B receptor and 5-HT7 receptor are concerned, particularly in treating irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and/or preventing migraine.

  • Patent number: 8074553
Abstract: An apparatus for providing protection from ballistic rounds, projectiles, fragments and explosives. The apparatus includes a core, grinding layer and bonding layer. The core is shaped and configured as a structural truss of the apparatus, in which the core includes a plurality of parallel, adjacent rows and the core distributes and dissipates force impacting on the apparatus. The grinding layer is positioned on at least one side of the core facing towards potential threats, in which the grinding layer grinds rounds, projectiles, fragments or other materials impacting the apparatus, helping to dissipate the impacting material and its momentum. The bonding layer bonds the grinding layer together and the grinding layer to the core and provides an outer coating to the apparatus on a side of the apparatus facing potential threats and through which rounds, projectiles, fragments or other materials impact and penetrate the apparatus.

Abstract: A printed circuit board (PCB 22) capable of withstanding ultra high G forces and ultra high temperature as in a gas turbine (11). The PCB includes a substrate having a plurality of cavities (30A, 36A) formed therein for receiving components of a circuit, and conductors embedded in the PCB for electrically connecting the components together to complete the circuit. Each of the cavities has a wall (36A?) upstream of the G-forces which supports the respective component in direct contact in order to prevent the development of tensile loads in a bonding layer (37A). When the component is an integrated circuit (50), titanium conductors (63) are coupled between exposed ends of the embedded conductors and contact pads on the integrated circuit. A gold paste (51) may be inserted into interstitial gaps between the integrated circuit and the upstream wall.
