  • Patent number: 7891957
Abstract: Disclosed is a capacity variable type rotary compressor and a driving method thereof. In the compressor, a first discharge port (11) is formed at a cylinder (10), a second discharge port (23) connected to the first discharge port (14) for discharging compressed gas into a casing (1) is formed at a main bearing (20), and a bypass hole (22) having a bypass valve (80) for providing compressed refrigerant gas to an inlet (12) is formed at the main bearing (20) between the first discharge port (14) and the second discharge port (23). ccordingly, a cooling capability is greatly lowered at the time of performing a capacity exclusion driving of the compressor, and the capacity exclusion driving can be maintained for a long time, thereby variously controlling an air conditioner and reducing unnecessary power waste of the compressor and the air conditioner to which the compressor is applied.

  • Patent number: 7892555
Abstract: Polypeptide and polynucleotide vaccines effective to treat or prevent infection of a mammal, such as a dog, a cat, or a human, by a protozoan. Methods of treatment and prevention are also provided, including therapeutic administration of the vaccine to an infected mammal to prevent progression of infection to a chronic debilitating disease state. Preferred embodiments of the polynucleotide vaccine contain nucleotide coding regions that encode polypeptides that are surface-associated or secreted by T. cruzi. Optionally the efficacy of the polynucleotide vaccine is increased by inclusion of a nucleotide coding region encoding a cytokine. • Patent number: 7895217
Abstract: Method and system for processing a plurality of requests for accessing “small files” stored at a storage device is provided. A user may define file size and each small file may include one or more blocks of data. The requests are sorted based on an address of a first data block for each small file. The sorted requests are then used to access the stored files, instead of accessing the requests based on when a request was received.

  • Patent number: 7894468
Abstract: Transmission methods for multicast messages and for signaling message responses thereto in communication systems supporting a multicast mode provide that a number of retransmissions of a multicast message may be changed based on a number of receivers of the message. Signaling messages to the multicast message may be transmitted in response to a fixed number of multicast message transmissions, and receivers that have not received the multicast message after the fixed number of transmissions may request further retransmissions up to an additional given number of times. Further, signaling messages may be transmitted at different times or staggered based on a radio condition of the receivers. For example, a first multicast message may be transmitted, and responses from groups of receivers may be listened to for a given period, after which one of a next multicast message and a portion of the first multicast message may be transmitted to the groups.

  • Patent number: 7895437
Abstract: To establish credentials, a user network station transmits a first value. An authenticating entity network station generates a first key portion based on the transmitted first value and a second value unknown to the user, splits one of a private key and a public key of a user asymmetric crypto-key into the first key portion and a second key portion, stores the second key portion of the one key so as to be accessible only to the authenticating entity network device, generates a cookie including the second value, transmits the generated cookie to the user network station, and destroys the transmitted first value, the second value, the one key, and the first key portion of the one key. The first value represents a first and the second value included in the transmitted cookie represents a second user credential useable to authenticate the user.

  • Publication number: 20110041021
Abstract: For downlink cooperative multi-point (CoMP) communication, each cooperating transmission point (e.g., base station) may send a retransmission packet with a different redundancy version to a user equipment (UE). Mechanisms may be provided to determine which transmission point should send packets with which redundancy version. For uplink CoMP, in order to reduce the backhaul overhead, each cooperating base station may share only a fraction of the retransmitted packet with the serving base station. Also, different retransmission packets with different redundancy versions can be transmitted to different cooperating base stations using spatial degrees of freedom.

  • Publication number: 20110038530
Abstract: Processing images includes projecting an infra-red pattern onto a three-dimensional object and producing a first image, a second image, and a third image of the three-dimensional object while the pattern is projected on the three-dimensional object. The first image and the second image include the three-dimensional object and the pattern. The first image and the second image are produced by capturing at a first camera and a second camera, respectively, light filtered through an infra-red filter. The third image includes the three-dimensional object but not the pattern. Processing the images also includes establishing a first-pair correspondence between a portion of pixels in the first image and a portion of pixels in the second image. Processing the images further includes constructing, based on the first-pair correspondence and the third image, a two-dimensional image that depicts a three-dimensional construction of the three-dimensional object.

  • Publication number: 20110040396
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing object-oriented audio are described. Audio objects can be created by associating sound sources with attributes of those sound sources, such as location, velocity, directivity, and the like. Audio objects can be used in place of or in addition to channels to distribute sound, for example, by streaming the audio objects over a network to a client device. The objects can define their locations in space with associated two or three dimensional coordinates. The objects can be adaptively streamed to the client device based on available network or client device resources. A renderer on the client device can use the attributes of the objects to determine how to render the objects. The renderer can further adapt the playback of the objects based on information about a rendering environment of the client device. Various examples of audio object creation techniques are also described.

Abstract: A raw runout signal of a tire is bandpass filtered utilizing appropriate, empirically determined, low and high tire order corners to determine the bandpass of the bandpass filter. A band-limited runout signal is then obtained and is examined for characteristic signal patterns of local runout which are known to exhibit periodically modulated cabin interior sound during vehicle movement, usually driving conditions involving highway speeds and smooth roads, which is audibly detectable by passengers based upon, for example, empirical analysis wherein the maximum gain of the bandpass filter is, preferably, unity.
