  • Patent number: 4670623
Abstract: A pressurized cabin for temporary or permanent confinement of electrical equipment in mines has one or more octagonal units and two sidewalls flanking the unit or units. Each unit is assembled of four sections each having a longer panel and a shorter panel, as considered in the circumferential direction of the respective unit, and the two panels of each section make an acute angle. The marginal portions of all sections are provided with borders which extend into the interior of the respective unit and are secured to each other, to the neighboring units and/or to the sidewalls by screws or bolts and nuts. Two of the longer panels in each unit are horizontal and the other two longer panels are vertical. The shorter panels have openings for the passage of pneumatic or hydraulic conduits and/or one or more electric cables. Such shorter panels can carry pressure relief and/or pressure reducing valves, or they can be connected to columns which mount the respective unit of a platform.

  • Patent number: 4650093
Abstract: Apparatus for separating and distributing granular goods includes a housing and a bucket wheel rotatable in the housing, the bucket wheel having an outer receiving side and an inner side along with a plurality of spaced-through holes extending between the inner side and the receiving side. An intake on the housing supplies granular goods to the receiving side of the bucket wheel and a discharge on the housing discharges the granular goods from the housing, the discharge being circumferentially spaced from the intake. An ejector is disposed within the bucket wheel and faces the inner side of the bucket wheel while a conduit supplies compressed air to the ejector, the ejector having a compressed air outlet directed toward the inner side of the bucket wheel such that the compressed air passing through the outlet acts on the through holes during rotation of the bucket wheel.

  • Patent number: 4546707
Abstract: A rail-mounted conveyance wherein two undercarriages support a superstructure. One of the undercarriages is movable with reference to the superstructure about three axes including a substantially horizontal X-axis extending in the direction of travel of the conveyance, a substantially horizontal Y-axis which extends transversely of the direction of travel of the conveyance, and a substantially vertical Z-axis which is normal to the other two axes. Movements about the X-axis are made possible by providing the one undercarriage with a transverse axle which defines the Y-axis and carries a block having a convex top surface sloping from the center toward both sides of the one undercarriage, and by providing the superstructure with a platform having a flat underside which abuts against and can roll along the convex surface. The line of contact between the block and the platform defines the first axis.

  • Patent number: 4544082
Abstract: A funnel-shaped device is provided with one or two segments serving as brackets to enlarge the bottom opening of the funnel which, when closed, is smaller than the smallest piece of grain to be deposited; a centrally disposed air tube blows air axially toward the bottom opening to cause a single piece of grain to be aerodynamically held on the opening while the remainder of the grains hover at a higher level. A slide element such as a fork or the like can be removably disposed at an intermediate level, possibly to serve for opening a single-bracket element. This permits a lower hovering level and a correspondingly increasing cycle time and depositing rate.

  • Patent number: 4473367
Abstract: A V-belt drive unit has an input pulley and an output pulley wherein one V-belt contacting pulley flank of each pulley extends at a small angle or substantially radially relative to the respective rotational axis of the pulley. the other V-belt contacting pulley flank is inclined at a larger angle relative to the respective rotational axis. The V-belt has respective flanks which are inclined at an angle which is at least one degree larger than the respective flank angle of the corresponding pulley. Further, the flank angles of the power input pulley differ from the corresponding flank angles of the respective power output pulley of a drive unit. The opening angle formed by the two flanks of a pulley is larger in the power output pulley than in the power input pulley. These features provide a substantial increase in the power transmission capacity of such drive units as compared to previous drive units of this type.

  • Patent number: 4418633
Abstract: An apparatus for driving and controlling a watercraft or the like having at least one pair of steerable propellers, the steerable propellers of each pair being located substantially symmetrically on opposite sides of the center line of the watercraft, such center line extending through the center of lateral resistance of the watercraft. A control element is provided for carrying out control movements in two degrees of freedom. Each control movement acts for remote control of the steerable propellers through transmitters corresponding respectively to such steerable propellers. Movement of the control element in one degree of freedom effects a rotation about an axis for controlling, through the transmitters, a synchronous pivoting of the servo propellers of each pair. Movement of the control element in the second degree of freedom effects movement of a rack element for controlling, through the same transmitters, an oppositely directed pivoting of the servo propellers relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 4412500
Abstract: A drive mechanism for ships or the like having at least one main propeller or the like drivable by at least one main motor and further having at least one drivable auxiliary mechanism, for example a maneuvering propeller. An energy producer is drivable by the main motor. A further motor is driven by the energy producer and arranged for driving the drivable auxiliary mechanism. An adjusting mechanism is provided for adjusting energy emitted by the energy producer or absorbed by the further motor. A regulator adjusts the adjusting mechanism to a preselected energy output. The main motor and the auxiliary mechanism are sized such that in the higher part of the speed range of the main motor, the sum of the energy required to drive the propulsion means at that speed and simultaneously drive the auxiliary mechanism at that speed exceed the output available from the main motor.

  • Patent number: 4334489
Abstract: A reversing mechanism for steerable propellers on ships wherein the direction of travel of the ship is controlled by the position of the steerable propeller. A selector switch is provided for controlling the direction of travel as well as directions forward and rearward such that when the direction of travel is to be reversed, the steerable propeller will be sequentially disengaged from the propeller driving mechanism and automatically pivoted through 180.degree. to effect a reverse operation without altering the position of the steering control. In other words, the position of the steerable propeller will be altered without altering the position of the steering control when the direction of travel of the ship is to be reversed.

  • Patent number: 4220111
Abstract: A watercraft having at least a pair of steerable propellers thereon spaced longitudinally along the center of the watercraft from a center of lateral resistance on the watercraft. The steerable propellers are also spaced equidistant from the longitudinal center line and on opposite sides thereof. The propellers are rotatably supported in underwater housings supported for angular movement through 360.degree.. A control device is provided for varying the direction of applied thrust to the watercraft by systematically varying the axes of rotation of the propellers relative to each other, assuming the thrust force for each steerable propeller is of the same magnitude. The magnitude of thrust can be, if desired, varied to provide additional control variations for the watercraft.
