  • Patent number: 6826257
Abstract: A marking device for defining the margins and orientation of radiography specimens includes a plurality of visually distinctive markers joined by a base that holds the markers until the markers are secured to a specimen. The base serves as a holder for the individual markers as the markers are secured to a specimen with sutures or staples, at which time the markers are disconnected from the base. One or more markers may be secured to a specimen as needed to define the orientation of the specimen. By securing markers to specific locations on a specimen, a surgeon can indicate to radiologists and pathologists the specimen's orientation in the body before removal, thus aiding in future study of the specimen. Since the markers are made either wholly or partially from radiopaque material, the markers are visible when radiographed.

  • Patent number: 6714628
Abstract: A marking grid is provided for use in radiographic imaging, and a method is provided for manufacturing the marking grid. The marking grid is comprised of a radiolucent substrate with a pressure sensitive adhesive on one side, a plurality of parallel strips of radiopaque material fixed to the substrate on the side opposite the pressure sensitive adhesive, and apertures in the substrate between the parallel strips of radiopaque material. The substrate is provided on a releasable backing with a plurality of holes longitudinally spaced relative to each other, which can be used to register the position of the substrate in the equipment used to produce the marking grids.

  • Patent number: 5887437
Abstract: A self-adhering cold pack has an envelope defining a sealed cold pack volume. A cooling agent is positioned in the cold pack volume. A bandage sheet is fixed to the envelope by a bandage adhesive. The bandage sheet defines mounting tabs linearly extending from the envelope outer perimeter. The mounting tabs support a bandage adhesive for temporary adhesion of the cold pack to the skin surface of a patient.

  • Patent number: 5702128
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a radiographic marker system which includes a radiopaque marker mounted on a thin, flexible adhesive label. In one embodiment, the adhesive label has a central portion, the adhesive side of which is covered by a cut-out portion of the base tape to provide for comfortable removal of the marker after use. In another embodiment, the adhesive label has a gripping tab to facilitate removal from a base tape upon which the marker is supported before use, and to facilitate removal from a patient after use. The gripping tab is formed by a projecting tab of the label combined with a cut-out portion of the base tape which covers adhesive on the projecting tab. A method of making a radiology marker system according to the invention also is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5609827
Abstract: A biopsy specimen container has a bottom surface and an outer wall extending from the bottom surface. A sheet of absorbent material lines the bottom surface. A container cover engages with the outer wall. The cover, wall and bottom define an internal chamber. A divider is mounted within the chamber to form a central compartment and a plurality of peripheral compartments. Radiographically, readable indicia identify each compartment.

  • Patent number: 5232452
Abstract: A marker system for use in radiography. The marker system includes an elongated base tape, a bendable, fabric covered wire containing a material that is opaque to imaging radiation, such as lead, and a continuous row of adhesive pads fixedly aligned along the wire. The adhesive pads are releasably adhered to the base tape and are manually removable from the base tape together with the wire for releasable adherence to a subject The marker system is dispensed in a convenient handy dispensing package which holds a roll of the marker system and ejects a line of wire with markers attached thereto as the base tape is pulled. Wire clippers are attached to the dispenser for cutting the markers.
