Patent number: 5209856Abstract: A process and device for the crystallization of sugar syrup is described. Sugar syrup is cooked to provide a massecuite. Thereafter, the massecuite is subjected to at least one stage of continuous mixing under vacuum to promote crystallization of the massecuite. The crystallized massecuite is then separated to separate the crystals from the mother liquor. The mother liquor is thereafter divided into a first discharge which is water syrup poor and a second discharge which is water syrup rich. Substantially all of the first discharge is recycled to the continuous mixing stage under vacuum. Accordingly, the massecuite and the crystals are subjected to a treatment having continuity during mixing under vacuum to maintain homogeneity of the sugar crystals.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1990Date of Patent: May 11, 1993Assignee: Beghin-Say, S.A.Inventors: Jacques Cuel, Claude Longue-Epee

Patent number: 4883478Abstract: Method for the preparation of an absorbent composition intended particularly to the absorption of physiological liquids such as urine, secretions from wounds, blood, etc. The method comprises the preparation of a concentrated solution of mono- and/or disaccharide in water, particularly saccharose. To said solution there is admixed a predetermined amount of superabsorbent up to obtaining a homogenous paste which is dried to an extent such that the water content is brought down to a value comprised between 2 and 15%. It is possible to introduce with the superabsorbent a portion of the oligosaccharide in the form of powder. The resultant mixture comprises less than 50% of superabsorbent and preferably between 1 and 30% in the case of a dressing.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1987Date of Patent: November 28, 1989Assignee: Beghin-Say, S.A.Inventors: Eric Lerailler, Michel Pierre, Bernard Thiriet, Jean Wacquez

Patent number: 4861871Abstract: The invention concerns a process for dehydrating glucides and applicable to those glucides of which the molecule includes at least one ketose type group, being characterized in that the glucide is made to react without addition of water with a hydrogen halide, whereupon the hydrogen halide is eliminated by evaporation in order to collect the formed disaccharide anhydride. The invention also relates to novel products characterized by essentially consisting of saccharide anhydrides of which the molecule includes two saccharide cycles linked to each other by two acetal bonds included in a dioxane cycle. As a rule at least one of the saccharide cycles is that of fructose (and may be substituted), and this cycle is linked by a spirane bond to the dioxane cycle.Product application as food additives.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1988Date of Patent: August 29, 1989Assignee: Beghin-Say S.A.Inventors: Jacques Defaye, Andree Gadelle, Christian Pedersen

Patent number: 4815457Abstract: The present invention relates to an adhesive dressing 1, coated on one surface with a pressure-sensitive adhesive 3 and covered with a non-adhesive support 4. The dressing 1 is folded back on itself on the side of the protective support 4 along a transverse fold 5, to give two parts 1a and 1b. The protective support 4a of one of the two parts 1a is cut along a line 6 parallel to the fold 5. Area 7 of the support between the cut 6 and the fold 5 is provided with an adhesive 8 such that the said area 7 adheres more strongly to the corresponding area of the other part of the support 4b than to the plastic film 2. This invention facilitates application of the dressing to skin.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1986Date of Patent: March 28, 1989Assignee: Beghin-Say S.A.Inventors: Paul Mazars, Jean-Pierre Barreteau

Patent number: 4798744Abstract: The process applies to polymers obtained by a water-in-oil process, that is to say, a reverse emulsion process or a suspension process in reversible phase. The process of fixation of this type of polymer in or on a porous support is characterized in that it comprises the impregnation of the porous support with said reverse suspension or emulsion resulting from the polymerization reaction and the removal of solvent from the support. By said process, complexes are obtained which present improved absorption properties and offer a better holding of the product to the support.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1987Date of Patent: January 17, 1989Assignee: Beghin-Say S.A.Inventors: Guy Goldstein, Michel Pierre
