  • Publication number: 20230385847
Abstract: The operational characteristics of a cyber-physical system (CPS) may deviate from the certified system due to intended (in case of cheating) or unintended (wear and tear) reasons. A computer-implemented certification system makes test case search aware of the multidimensional interactions between the cyber and physical subsystems and addresses practical dynamical system problems like Zeno behavior and dynamical model divergence. The system dynamically modulates an input search space by predicting and limiting input variations that can potentially cause divergence or Zeno behavior.

  • Publication number: 20230387816
Abstract: Adhering to the objective of modelling and selecting the most optimal winding configuration for a high frequency planar transformer (HFPT) for auxiliary charging systems for more electric aircrafts (MEA) this disclosure elucidates numerous fabrication and design-based constraints and correlations to enable parametric modelling of various magnetic components. This disclosure characterizes possible winding configurations for HFPT employed in a bidirectional CUE DC/DC converter. A detailed analytical study is presented for each component and verified using several instances of 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA) based model to synthesize the effective field and current density distribution in the windings. Several design-based trade-offs are graphically explained with various criteria pertaining to optimal winding selection to study the interdependence of the resultant parameters on hardware specifications, such as the PCB thickness and its fabrication layout, air gaps and conductor thickness.

  • Publication number: 20230356862
Abstract: A fabric-based, soft-bodied aerial robot includes contact-reactive perching and embodied impact protection structures while remaining lightweight and streamlined. The aerial robot is operable to 1) pneumatically vary its body stiffness for collision resilience and 2) utilize a hybrid fabric-based, bistable (HFB) grasper to perform passive grasping. When compared to conventional rigid drone frames the soft-bodied aerial robot successfully demonstrates its ability to dissipate impact from head-on collisions and maintain flight stability without any structural damage. Furthermore, in dynamic perching scenarios the HFB grasper is capable to convert impact energy upon contact into firm grasp through rapid body shape conforming in less than 4 ms.
