Abstract: An adjustable support apparatus for facilitating movement of a person from one position to another includes one or more upright support units and an adjustable frame assembly for connecting or mounting the support unit(s) to a structure. Each support unit includes a compartment with a hollow interior and a handle connected to the compartment. A pocket with an opening is formed in the compartment for providing access to the hollow interior. The handle includes an elongate bar spaced from the compartment portion and sized to be grasped by the hand of a person. Two or more upright support units may be arranged in tandem and/or opposite each other. The distance between the support units is adjustable through the frame assembly.

Abstract: A stirring device is adaptable for use in microwave ovens with turntables. The stirring device includes a gear train assembly that increases the normal rate of revolution of a microwave turntable by several fold. A driving head coupler is connected to a driving end of the gear train assembly and engages a turntable driving head, so that rotation of the driving head during use of the microwave oven causes rotation of the driving head coupler. A magnetic stirring actuator is connected to a driven end of the gear train assembly for rotation therewith. A magnetic stirring device is positioned in a container along with the contents to be heated and stirred. During use of the microwave oven, the turntable driving head rotates at a first rate of revolution and thereby causes a corresponding rotation of the actuator at a second rate of revolution greater than the first rate to thereby simultaneously heat and stir the contents situated in the container at the second rate of revolution.

Abstract: A toilet seat aid consisting of a toilet seat aid body having a first sitting area and a second sitting area opposing each other. An operational opening is disposed substantially centrally within the seat body. The operational opening passes through the body, so as to interconnect the first and second sitting areas.

Abstract: A device for assisting in the performance of creeping exercise includes an exercise support frame having at least first and second side supports spaced from each other; a flexible support arrangement for supporting a user within the support frame during the exercise and a coupling arrangement for adjustably coupling the flexible support means to the support frame. Upon placement of the user within the flexible support arrangement, one portion of the flexible support arrangement engaging one of the side supports presses against another portion of the flexible support arrangement and presses against the frame, so that the flexible support arrangement is locked in a predetermined position supporting the user.

Abstract: A toilet height conversion structure for use in combination with a toilet having a rear portion and a supporting frame which includes at least a substantially horizontal support member and a pair of substantially vertical inner support members. The structure consists of a mounting block positioned at the rear portion of the toilet and a riser. A transverse channel arrangement is formed in the mounting block for securing the horizontal support member and preventing transverse movement of the frame relative to the toilet. The mounting block is also formed with a lateral channel arrangement for securing the pair of vertical inner support members and preventing lateral movement of the frame relative to the toilet. An adjustable connecting arrangement is formed in the mounting block for securing thereof at the rear portion of the toilet.

Abstract: A goniometer for measuring flexibility and extent of movement of members of a limb connected to a joint consists of first and second arms pivotally connected to each other and a feedback arrangement integrated into the arms. The feedback arrangement includes a generating unit for generating an operational beam, a reflecting unit for reflecting the operational beam, a receiving unit for receiving and analyzing the operational beam reflected from the reflecting unit, an adjustment unit for adjustment of an operational space. The operational space is defined by juxtaposition of the reflecting unit and adjustment unit, whereas an area and angular positioning of the operational space is indicative of the allowable range of movement of members of a limb and the arm elements. An alarm is provided for alarming a user when movement of the arms is not within the allowable range. The alarm is activated when the receiving unit is prevented from receiving the operational beam reflected from the reflecting unit.

Abstract: A device facilitating turning a key in a keyhole of a lock consists of an elongated housing having distal and proximal ends. A receiving, unrestricted opening is formed within a housing and extends between the distal and proximal ends substantially along a longitudinal axis of the housing. At least one key is pivotally arranged at the proximal end of the housing. In operation, the key is transverse to the housing and the key is turned in the keyhole of the lock by a force applied to the housing. An area of application of this turning force is distributed along and restricted by the receiving opening.

Abstract: A center member is disposed between a pair of end members. A cylindrical member is accepted in a hole in one of said end members and an other cylindrical member is accepted in a cavity formed by the cooperative arrangement of the other of the end members and the center member whereby the one and the other cylindrical members which are in parallel planes are coupled. The arrangement is such that cylindrical members of varying diameters and having their axes angularly displaced relative to each other within their parallel planes are accommodated.

Abstract: A base is mounted to a frame and a pair of foldable basket sides are mounted to the base and to a rim above the base. A pair of basket ends are displaceably mounted the rim. The sides are folded and the ends are displaced to an upright position to cooperate with the base and the rim for forming a rigid basket. The sides are folded and the ends are displaced so that the rim is adjacent the frame, whereby the rim receives a flat surface so as to render the apparatus in a table top configuration. Legs are provided for clamping the apparatus to supporting bars on a wheelchair or like equipment, whereby the independence, productivity and comfort of a user in a variety of environments is maximized.

Abstract: An oxygen tank holder of a suitable fabric material includes a pouch for holding an oxygen tank, and which pouch is strapped at its upper and lower ends to the back of a wheelchair. The straps are adjustable to accommodate various size wheelchairs and so that the pouch can be displaced away from the center of the wheelchair to avoid interfering with the back of the user of the chair, as is desireable.

Abstract: An arrangement including a suction pump, a pipette, an application tip and a plurality of ligating rings which are carried on the application tip. The application tip is disposed in cooperative relation with the pipette so that the ligating rings may be transferred from the adapter tip to the pipette while being gradually stretched. The pipette is disposed in an incision exposing the ovarian sack of a small mammalian creature, whereupon a suction or vacuum is generated by the pump to capture the ovarian sack, after which a ligating ring is slipped off of the pipette and contracts to ligate said captured sack. This enables resorption of the ligated ovarian sack into the creature and stabilization of hormonal activity as is desired for experimental purposes.

Abstract: A raised superimposed toilet seat is adapted to fit on a conventional toilet seat and is contoured to particularly meet the needs of patients who have undergone unilateral or bilateral total hip replacement procedures. The seat is contoured so that when the patient is seated thereon, the patient's legs are kept adducted in the proper position, ensuring that the patient's hips are placed with the proper amount of hip flexion and abduction to prevent hip dislocation.

Abstract: A device for holding dialysis bags includes a hollow funnel-like member for holding dialysis bags of various sizes. A hanger arrangement extends from the funnel-like member, whereby said member carrying a dialysis bag may be suspended within a vessel or the like without additional support. A cap is secured to the funnel-like member to seal said member.
