    Abstract: The apparatus receives a source of air and a sulfur-bearing source. The apparatus can condition the gas within an electrostatic precipitator of an industrial plant. The apparatus has a sulfur vessel having an output and an input. The sulfur vessel communicates with the sulfur-bearing source and the source of air, for at least providing gaseous, oxidized sulfur. The apparatus includes a supply of liquid, oxidized sulfur and the sulfur vessel includes an evaporator communicating with the supply of liquid, oxidized sulfur for evaporating it. Also included is a converter having an outlet and having an inlet communicating with the output of the sulfur vessel for converting the gaseous, oxidized sulfur into a conditioning medium. The apparatus also includes a sensor, a modulator and a delivery system. The sensor is connected to the outlet of the converter for providing a converted temperature signal signifying the temperature of the outlet of the converter.

    Abstract: A water demineralizer system and method is provided in which at least three beds of resin particles are connected in series flow arrangement preferably within a single vessel for substantially removing metal ions such as calcium and magnesium from water feed by exchange with hydrogen ions. The raw feed water flows first through an upper cation resin bed, then through an intermediate anion resin bed, and then through a lower bed of mixed cation and anion resins, and preferably flows downwardly through the beds. After the resin beds become saturated with metal ions from the feed water, mainly by calcium and magnesium ions, the beds are regenerated by first backwashing with water, then chemically treating with acid and caustic solution, followed by bed rinsing, air mixing and backflushing with water prior to further use for demineralizing the feed water.

    Abstract: A rapper for striking a target in a precipitator includes a hammer having a hub pivotally attached to a frame. The rapper also has a drive sprocket rotatably mounted in the frame. The sprocket has a driving plurality of spaced teeth distributed on the sprocket along a given peripheral sector. The latter cover less than the entire periphery of the sprocket. The teeth of the sprocket are distributed to mesh with and then release spokes on the hub of the hammer.

    Abstract: There is provided a precipitator system including a voltage controller which produces from an alternating power source a variable output. This variable output drives a high voltage converter which applies a high voltage to a precipitator. This variable output is controlled by a control signal from a command subsystem. Preferably, the command subsystem is operative to repress the drive to the high voltage converter in response to its loading exceeding a predetermined limit during a corresponding limit interval. After this limit interval, the command subsystem is operative to rapidly restore productive drive to the high voltage converter, preferably by the next half cycle of the power source that has a polarity opposite to that existing at the beginning of the limit interval. In this fashion stablized operation is quickly achieved. Also included, preferably, is a conductive element that is coupled to the high voltage converter.

The interface resin cut is further classified by various physical separation techniques. Cation and anion resins are separately chemically regenerated.
