Patents Assigned to Belco
  • Patent number: 4653344
Abstract: This bearing system has been developed primarily for long rotating shafts having a number of support points and supported objects. A beam is preferably extruded with a T-slot in one face. The slot receives the heads of mounting bolts securing a split bearing housing to the beam. A split eccentric assembly is also provided, which is rotatively secured to the shaft by clamps to generate orbital movement of a second beam, which is secured to a split bearing housing surrounding the eccentric assembly.

  • Patent number: 4648976
Abstract: A water demineralizer system and method is provided in which at least three beds of resin particles are connected in series flow arrangement preferably within a single vessel for substantially removing metal ions such as calcium and magnesium from water feed by exchange with hydrogen ions. The raw feed water flows first through an upper cation resin bed, then through an intermediate anion resin bed, and then through a lower bed of mixed cation and anion resins, and preferably flows downwardly through the beds. After the resin beds become saturated with metal ions from the feed water, mainly by calcium and magnesium ions, the beds are regenerated by first backwashing with water, then chemically treating with acid and caustic solution, followed by bed rinsing, air mixing and backflushing with water prior to further use for demineralizing the feed water.

  • Patent number: 4588377
Abstract: A thermocouple probe assembly for a billet furnace is provided with replaceable contact tips joined to the shanks of the probe rods within a surrounding insulator to inhibit oxidation of the junctions. Two pairs of probes are used, each pair being associated with an independent control circuit as a safety backup system. The assembly is preferably mounted on a bracket that is extendable on an angle forty-five degrees to the horizontal to provide correct probe positioning for various sizes of billets, and has a heat shield correspondingly adjustable along the probe assembly to accommodate various degrees of penetration of the probe assembly into the furnace.

  • Patent number: 4519817
Abstract: A rapper for striking a target in a precipitator includes a hammer having a hub pivotally attached to a frame. The rapper also has a drive sprocket rotatably mounted in the frame. The sprocket has a driving plurality of spaced teeth distributed on the sprocket along a given peripheral sector. The latter cover less than the entire periphery of the sprocket. The teeth of the sprocket are distributed to mesh with and then release spokes on the hub of the hammer.

  • Patent number: 4290003
Abstract: There is provided a precipitator system including a voltage controller which produces from an alternating power source a variable output. This variable output drives a high voltage converter which applies a high voltage to a precipitator. This variable output is controlled by a control signal from a command subsystem. Preferably, the command subsystem is operative to repress the drive to the high voltage converter in response to its loading exceeding a predetermined limit during a corresponding limit interval. After this limit interval, the command subsystem is operative to rapidly restore productive drive to the high voltage converter, preferably by the next half cycle of the power source that has a polarity opposite to that existing at the beginning of the limit interval. In this fashion stablized operation is quickly achieved. Also included, preferably, is a conductive element that is coupled to the high voltage converter.

  • Patent number: 4191644
Abstract: A process is disclosed in which a spent mixed anion/cation exchange resin bed is hydraulically separated into cation, anion and interface resin cuts. The interface resin cut is further classified by various physical separation techniques. Cation and anion resins are separately chemically regenerated. In an alternative embodiment cation resin fines are physically separated from the anion resin cut.

  • Patent number: 4155723
Abstract: A plurality of rappers which are periodically energized to clean the electrodes of electrostatic precipitators are connected by a wiring system which requires less wiring than conventional wiring systems. The rappers are arranged so that several have lead wires connected to a common power feed wire and these several have lead wires connected to a common power return wire.

  • Patent number: 4120672
Abstract: An electrode rapper assembly for electrostatic precipitators which increases the life of switches used to energize the rapper and will not be damaged if improperly connected. The rapper assembly has a solenoid and two diode rectifiers, one being connected in parallel with the solenoid coil and the other in series with the coil.

  • Patent number: 4086646
Abstract: A control system for energizing each of a number of rappers used to periodically rap the electrodes of an electrostatic precipitator to clean the electrodes. The control system energizes each rapper sequentially so that the coil of each rapper is periodically energized for a period of time at an energy level sufficient to provide efficient cleaning of its associated electrode.

  • Patent number: 4050889
Abstract: This oven has a primary heating chamber containing heat-generating equipment producing hot gases. These gases pass from the primary heating chamber to a secondary heating chamber occupied by an indexing rotary magazine in object-exchanging relationship with a mechanism for inducing movement of the objects through the oven. The secondary heating chamber can be used for either pre-heating or heat-soaking the objects, depending on the direction of movement of the objects through the oven. The objects are loaded on the carrier (or removed, according to the application of the oven) radially at a position angularly spaced from the position of exchange with the movement-inducing means.
