  • Patent number: 10697586
Abstract: An example lubrication system for a rotating component has a primary lubrication system providing continuous lubrication during normal operation of the rotating component and secondary lubrication system with a reservoir co-rotating with the component. The reservoir is continuously replenished from the primary lubrication system during normal operation of the rotating system, with the lubricant being forced through a discharge orifice by the centrifugal force generated by the rotation toward, for example, a bearing or a gear. When the primary pressurized lubrication system fails, lubrication will continue to be provided by the lubricant in the supplemental lubricant reservoir while the rotation speed or power supplied to the shaft is controllably decreased in an emergency.

  • Publication number: 20200193133
Abstract: Methods and systems of locating an object of interest with a hyperspectral imaging system include placing a hyperspectral tag on the object of interest. A hyperspectral camera then then collects light emitted by an area of interest. An analyzer unit of the hyperspectral imaging system processes the collected light emitted by the area of interest into a hyperspectral image. The hyperspectral image includes a data file that includes information regarding a spectral response at each pixel of the first hyperspectral image. The analyzer unit then compares the spectral response at a first pixel of the hyperspectral image with the spectral response of the hyperspectral tag. Based upon the comparison, the analyzer unit generates an identity of the object of interest.

  • Publication number: 20200164975
Abstract: A rotorcraft that utilizes both a main compound rotor and a plurality of tiltrotors is disclosed. The main rotor and the thrusters can provide vertical lift for vertical take-off and landing of the rotorcraft. The thrusters of the rotorcraft can articulate to a horizontal position to facilitate horizontal flight. The main rotor of the rotorcraft can continue to provide vertical lift for the rotorcraft in horizontal flight, as well as operate in an autorotation mode. In the event of a failure of the main power source of the rotorcraft, the main rotor in autorotation mode can safety land the rotorcraft. In the autorotation mode, the main rotor can create electrical energy that is stored in a battery and can be used to power the plurality of thrusters. The rotorcraft can also be configured in an anti-torque mode, where the thrusters cancel out the torque of the main rotor.
