Patents Assigned to Bendix Corporation
  • Patent number: 4555393
Abstract: A continuous fiber composite having carbon microfibers dispersed in the resin filling the interstices between the continuous fibers to enhance the transverse properties of the composite. The carbon microfibers are made by soaking carbon fibers in an intercalating acid solution comprising a mixture of fuming nitric and sulfuric acid to weaken the intercrystallite bonds. Gentle stirring of solution separates the carbon microfibers from the host fibers. The microfibers are then separated from the intercalating acid solution and washed to remove the residual acid.

  • Patent number: 4503825
Abstract: A diesel fuel system including a cam actuated unit injector employing a single control valve controlling the establishing and disestablishing of a hydraulic link in a timing chamber between a driven piston and a metering piston. The cam is configured to temporarily halt the upward motion of the pumping piston during a fuel metering period and until the disestablishment of the hydraulic link.

  • Patent number: 4462653
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly (100) includes a coupling ring (50) for connecting together two connector housings (10, 20) and self-contained means for resisting rotation of the coupling ring relative to the connector housing (20) to which it is rotatably mounted. The resisting means includes coupling ring (50) and connector housing (20) respectively, frusto-conical surfaces (72, 82) with protuberances (74) and sockets (84), in faced relation, the protuberances being adapted to be received in and rotated to succeeding sockets. The compressible plastic is such that as the housings are drawn into tight engagement the protuberances on the coupling ring engage the plastic surface on the other connector housing (10), causing the protuberances and surfaces to elastically compress.

  • Patent number: 4461530
Abstract: A socket contact (10) for electrical connectors and method of manufacture comprised of a contact liner (12), a front guide sleeve (14), and a rear sleeve (16) each of said guide sleeve (14) and rear sleeve (16) interfit over the contact liner (12) with a slight overlap (42) at the approximate midsection of the contact liner (12). The guide sleeve (14) is enabled to be interfit with both the contact liner (12) and the rear sleeve (16) by a crimp (44) formed adjacent the rear end (40) of the guide sleeve (14). A fillet weld (48) is applied at the shoulder (46) created by the guide sleeve (14) overlapping the rear sleeve (16) which weld reinforces the midsection of the socket contact (10).

  • Patent number: 4057190
Abstract: A low-cost precise-metering uniform-fuel-breakup fuel injection valve comprises narrow arcuate slots etched through a thin spray disc located downstream of a metering orifice and comprises a plurality of narrow slots of length and width sufficient to break up the fuel first into thin sheets and then into small droplets of uniform diameter.
