Patent number: 6311739Abstract: An electronically calibrated fuel dispenser includes a processor located on a processor board, a fuel pump, a pulser circuit and a memory located on a memory board. The processor board includes a calibration factor connector. The fuel pump is coupled to a fuel source and includes a fuel meter. The fuel pump provides fuel to a fuel recipient. The pulser circuit is coupled to the fuel meter. The pulser circuit provides an indication to the processor of the fuel delivered to the fuel recipient. The memory board includes a connector for coupling the memory board to the calibration factor connector of the processor board and thereby coupling the memory to the processor. The memory stores calibration factors independent of the processor board. The memory board further includes a calibration mode entry device, a blocking device and a sealing device. The blocking device prevents the calibration mode entry device from being actuated when the blocking device is in a blocking position.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 2000Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Assignee: Bennett Pump CompanyInventors: Thomas A. Patent number: 5717564Abstract: A fuel dispenser includes a housing, a compartment in the housing, electrical controls and a terminal device in the compartment and a fixture extending into the compartment. The fuel dispenser is field-installed by connecting an external conduit to the housing and running unbroken electrical leads through the external conduit and the fixture. The electrical leads are terminated at the terminal device and the fixture is sealed against vapor transmission.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1996Date of Patent: February 10, 1998Assignee: Bennett Pump CompanyInventor: Adam J. Patent number: 5332010Abstract: A method of withdrawing the fuel from the fuel tank of a liquid-fuel powered vehicle and discharging the fuel into bulk storage tanks includes providing a pump that is selectively actuatable for pumping liquid fuel and having an inlet that is connected with a hose having a portion of sufficient length and flexibility to be inserted into the fuel tank of a vehicle. The pump has a liquid discharge conduit for connection to a fuel storage tank. The hose is extended through the vehicle's filler pipe to the bottom of the tank. The fuel being withdrawn is metered to measuring the quantity of liquid being discharged by the pump into the discharge conduit. The hose may include a shutoff valve, which may be an automatic shutoff valve of the type used at gasoline stations.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1993Date of Patent: July 26, 1994Assignee: Bennett Pump CompanyInventors: Thomas A. Thompson, Delos J. Loomis

Patent number: 5299135Abstract: An interface unit for interfacing a peripheral bus of a computer system with a dispensing system for dispensing a material, such as gasoline, and which includes a plurality of dispensers for controlling the dispensing of the material. The interface unit includes a controller and a first communication link for providing bidirectional communication between the controller and the material dispensers. A second communication link is connected with an internal bus on the interface unit and the peripheral bus of the computer system to provide bidirectional communication between the controller and the computer system. The second communication link includes a window memory for storing code and a bus interface.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1993Date of Patent: March 29, 1994Assignee: Bennett Pump CompanyInventors: Gregory S. Patent number: 5257651Abstract: An apparatus for withdrawing the fuel form the fuel tank of a liquid fuel powered vehicle and discharging the fuel into bulk storage tanks includes a pump that is selectively actuatable for pumping liquid fuel and having an inlet that is connected with a hose having a portion of sufficient length and flexibility to be inserted into the fuel tank of a vehicle. The hose is adapted to extend through the vehicle's filler pipe to the bottom of the tank. The pump has a liquid discharge conduit for connection to a fuel storage tank. A fuel meter is provided that is adapted to measuring the quantity of liquid being discharged by the pump into the discharge conduit. The hose may include a shutoff valve, which may be an automatic shutoff valve of the type used at gasoline stations.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1992Date of Patent: November 2, 1993Assignee: Bennett Pump CompanyInventors: Thomas A. Patent number: 5094106Abstract: A liquid meter for fuel pumps is so designed that the liquid enters through the bottom of the meter and is measured as it passes upwardly through the meter housing and is discharged at the top, which shortens the path the liquid must follow in passing through the meter, makes it possible to reposition the discharge outlet to adjust it to the environment of its installation and adapts the meter to being mounted directly on the discharge port of the pump.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1990Date of Patent: March 10, 1992Assignee: Bennett Pump CompanyInventors: Jacques Dedisse, Richard Shunta

Patent number: 4576312Abstract: A fuel dispensing unit has a structure providing a plurality of dispensing hoses on each of two sides for dispensing one or more kinds of fuel. The unit has a closed cabinet in its lower portion containing the fuel handling equipment and a pair of vertical hollow end standards, one on each of the opposite ends of the cabinet. A trough interconnects the tops of the standards leaving an open space between the trough and cabinet in which a display unit is mounted to display information on price, volume, etc. All fuel handling equipment is confined to the cabinet, one end standard and the trough. All electrical and microprocessor facilities are confined to the other standard and are sealed from the cabinet, trough and the one end standard.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1984Date of Patent: March 18, 1986Assignee: Bennett Pump CompanyInventor: George E.
