  • Patent number: 6113605
Abstract: An insertion system for a prosthesis has an inserter with a box-like attachment device mounted therein. The attachment device has an end wall, a bottom wall and a pair of sidewalls with a crossbar spaced from said bottom wall extending between said side walls. A resilient adapter engages a trunion on the prosthesis and includes an arm designed to engage the attachment device by locking under the crossbar. To prevent rotation a spring-loaded retractable rod is mounted within the inserter and can be selectively moved into and out of engagement with a locating element on the prosthesis.

  • Patent number: 5954768
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of prosthetic implants with a roughened tissue ingrowth surface consists in obtaining an even surface roughening in the form of balls in which the balls made integral with the implant all have the same diameter and have been obtained by uniformly distributing the balls through a mesh onto the surface to be roughened. Such implants have fewer risks after implantation because the bony tissue ingrowth is on a more uniform surface.

  • Patent number: 4355428
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for manufacture of parts having a grainy surface and to parts obtained by this process. The process comprises making a rough wax pattern of the desired part, applying fusible particles to the surface of said pattern, obtaining a refractory mold from said pattern, and casting a material in the mold to form the finished part after removal of the mold. The resulting part has a grainy surface. The invention applies in particular to the manufacture of stems of articulating prostheses to be inserted into bone without addition of cement.
