  • Patent number: 11513103
Abstract: A portable gas analysis device having a separating column and a detector. The separating column is composed as a multi-capillary unit from parallel individual capillaries and, depending on the length, is bent into a compact shape, preferably even wound into multiple turns. A thermally conductive casing and a thermal stabilizing device are provided for the multi-capillary unit. The thermal stabilizing device comprises a temperature sensor, a heating element and control electronics. The casing protects the sensitive multi-capillary unit from mechanical actions; it acts as a protective space. The temperature-controlled casing also forms a space in which uniform and controlled conditions prevail and which in particular is isolated from the temperature and humidity of the environment, allowing reliable measurements outside a laboratory environment, in the field. This double effect of the casing for the capillaries in conjunction with the compact dimensions forms the true essence of the invention.

  • Publication number: 20220236240
Abstract: A method and a corresponding device for calibrating a gas detection device with a measuring chamber for generating a gas chromatogram. A sequence of at least two consecutive partial injections separated by a pause is carried out, each comprising a predetermined amount of a sample-gas mixture to be injected into the measuring chamber, and the gas detection device generates a measurement signal by means of gas chromatography. The measurement signal correlates with the presence and/or concentration of a component of the sample-gas mixture. Due to the different partial injections, a plurality of measurement signals can be obtained, which means that depending on these measurement signals the necessary information for a calibration can be obtained automatically even if the transfer function of the detector unit is non-linear. In this way, a rapid and automated calibration can be achieved, which means a double advantage for the user.

  • Publication number: 20220236182
Abstract: Gas detection apparatus for the detection of a target gas in a gas mixture, having a radiation source, a first measurement chamber and a second measurement chamber, as well as a first and second measurement detector. A first gas mixture flows through the first measurement chamber, and a second gas mixture flows through the second measurement chamber. Electromagnetic radiation emitted by the radiation source passes initially through the first measurement chamber and subsequently through the second measurement chamber. The first measurement detector registers a physical effect in the first measurement chamber, this physical effect correlating with the intensity of the radiation passing through the first measurement chamber, and generates a first signal correlating with the physical effect. The second measurement detector is correspondingly configured for the second measurement chamber. A second measurement point is thus provided without requiring a second radiation source.

  • Patent number: 10900937
Abstract: A portable gas analysis apparatus for conducting a gas flow, in particular for highly volatile compounds, includes a seeker measurement path and a separation measurement path. The seeker measurement path extends from a sample gas inlet opening to a first air exit opening, wherein a connecting path branches off from the seeker measurement path to a separation measurement path, and said separation measurement path extends from the connecting path to a second air exit opening and is connected to a carrier gas inlet opening, wherein the gas analysis apparatus has a control element which is designed for reversing the gas flow in the connecting path.
