Abstract: A turbine housing of an exhaust gas turbocharger, includes an outer housing in which an inner housing with a tubular nozzle and an outlet duct for connection to an exhaust gas system is arranged. The outlet duct is coupled with the tubular nozzle for movement relative to the nozzle via a seal ring. The seal ring is inwardly everted and pushed onto the nozzle and embraced by an inner-housing support ring, so that a fluid tight fit on the inner housing nozzle is ensured. The seal ring is further pushed onto the outlet duct and there also coupled onto the outlet duct with an outlet duct support ring in a fluid tight manner so that an especially durable connection is created. Both support rings are additionally coupled in a materially bonded manner with the seal ring and the outlet duct nozzle or with the inner housing.

Abstract: A hot formed part of high-strength steel includes a body having an opening and formed in one piece with at least one tab in the form of a tongue projecting into the opening for holding a connection piece captive on the body. The tab thus is formed in one piece with the hot formed part and is produced jointly with the openings during manufacture of the hot formed part in the hot forming process.

Abstract: A control arm for installation to an axle of a motor vehicle includes a base body made of sheet metal and having three bearing zones. The base body has two suspension arms to define a base body plane. One of the bearing zones includes two bearing receptacles, each having a receiving opening disposed in an opening plane. The opening plane of one of the receiving openings and the opening plane of the other one of the receiving openings are disposed in spaced-apart relationship and oriented in substantial perpendicular relationship to the base body plane.

Abstract: A transverse control arm for a motor vehicle is produced in one piece from a sheet metal blank. The transverse control arm includes a base body region with bearing regions formed thereon. A bearing journal is arranged in a bearing region with a material joint. The material joint is oriented in the direction of a longitudinal axis of the bearing journal, thereby providing a transverse control arm with high durability.

Abstract: A turbine housing of an exhaust gas turbocharger includes an outer casing and a rotor casing which is arranged in the outer casing and includes a tubular neck for engagement in an exhaust pipe to conduct exhaust gas from the neck in a direction of an exhaust flange. The exhaust pipe is hereby coupled to the rotor casing for relative movement there between. A sealing ring is arranged between the neck and the exhaust pipe, wherein the neck has one end provided with at least one outwardly directed projection defined by an outer diameter which is greater than an inner diameter of the sealing ring. Fabrication of the turbine housing is realized by pushing the sealing ring over the neck, and inserting an expanding mandrel into the neck to widen the neck.

A wheel suspension having a wheel carrier bracket is constructed in the form of a fork-shaped metal sheet and swingably supported on the axle member bracket for wheel alignment, with a wheel carrier being arranged on the wheel carrier bracket.

The structure is reinforced by bending edges having an X-shaped configuration extending over the entire surface of the structure. Arranged between the legs of the X-shaped portion are sections which have surface areas between the legs of the X-shaped portion. The surface area of the X-shaped portion has a generally concave curvature, whereas the surface areas of the sections 11 have convex configurations in relation to the concave surface area of the X-shaped portion.

Abstract: An electromagnetic actuator operating like a holding magnet includes an anisotropic permanent magnet connected with a ferromagnetic yoke, an electromagnet and a ferromagnetic armature that is movable relative to the electromagnet. The yoke is cup-shaped and has a circular, elliptical or polygonal cross-section to reduce magnetic stray flux. All the aforementioned components are arranged coaxially with respect to a column-shaped core. The periphery of the yoke includes at least one opening configured for passage of the electrical conductors controlling the electromagnet. The opening also enables pressure equalization and vapor diffusion between the interior space of the actuator and the environment. The opening is oriented in the magnetic flux direction and is constructed to reduce eddy currents. The actuator also includes components forming an electrical freewheel circuit or an electrical energy store circuit.

Abstract: A bumper crossbeam for a motor vehicle includes an outer section configured as a roll-formed hollow profile which is closed at least in some areas. At least one inner section, configured as a separate component, is arranged in the outer section and connected to the outer section. The inner section has at least one wall extending from a front section zone of the outer section to a rear section zone of the outer section.

Abstract: In a method of applying a firmly adhering metallic coating onto a steel sheet product, a steel sheet product is inserted into a film bag which contains at least a coating material. Subsequently, the film bag is evacuated to cause the film to evenly bear upon the outer surface of the steel sheet product. This state is fixed by sealing the film bag. The film bag and the steel sheet product are then subjected to a heat treatment to thereby form a coating of the coating material on the steel sheet product.

Abstract: In a method of making a tubular structural part for a motor vehicle, a metal plate is contoured and preformed in at least one shaping step into a tubular body. Subsequently, the tubular body is end-formed into the structural part by internal high-pressure application while free contact regions snugly bear upon one another. The structural part is at least partially heated and quenched in a holding tool acted upon with a coolant.

A transition region having a width of less than 50 mm is formed between the two regions. The side rail has in the region of the first type a bainitic structure and in the region of the second type a martensitic structure.

Abstract: A bumper arrangement for an automobile includes a crossbeam with crash boxes and a pedestrian protection element arranged on the crossbeam. The material of the pedestrian protection element has a lower firmness compared to the material of the crossbeam. A deformation element is arranged in the pedestrian protection element. The deformation element can be retracted into the crossbeam in an impact with a pedestrian, so that only the pedestrian protection element produces a damping effect. In a high-intensity crash, the deformation element can be rigidly connected with the crossbeam and thus lengthen the available deformation path of the crash box along the deformation element.

A hot-gas housing receives exhaust from the third channel for discharge through the fourth channel, and a cold-gas housing receives fresh air from the first channel and discharges compressed fresh air through the second channel. Disposed between the hot-gas housing and the cold-gas housing is a cell rotor housing which has a cell rotor. A guide element is arranged in at least one of the first and third channels to guide a gas flow for accelerating or decelerating the cell rotor.

Abstract: In a method of making a hybrid part, a reinforcement element of fiber composite is placed upon a base member in a press tool. A strip-shaped cover having a resin absorbing absorbent layer is withdrawn from a supply unit and placed in the press tool between the reinforcement element and the press tool. As the base member and the reinforcement element are compressed with one another and joined any resin issuing out from the reinforcement element is absorbed by the absorbent layer of the cover and kept away from soiling the press tool or the base member. After the compression process, the cover is removed.

Abstract: An exhaust system for a combustion engine includes an exhaust pipe, and a heat accumulator housing in surrounding relationship to the exhaust pipe. Arranged in the heat accumulator housing are heat pipes to provide a heat transport of heat energy contained in exhaust gas. Heat energy thus withdrawn from the exhaust gas can be carried off via the heat pipes in the heat accumulator housing.

Abstract: In a method for producing a control arm for arrangement on an automobile axle formed as one-piece part from a light-metal extruded profile, a semi-finished product made from a light-metal extruded profile having a Pi-shaped cross-sectional configuration with a bottom web, side webs extending from the bottom web, and legs projecting from the webs is processed by cutting, whereafter bearing seat openings are introduced and sections of the processed semi-finished product are expanded. A control arm produced with the method of the invention for arrangement on an automobile axle is also disclosed.
