  • Patent number: 9855710
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an assembly for manufacturing a leaf spring from a fiber-composite material. To this end, tape material from a fiber material, which has been pre-impregnated with a matrix resin, for manufacturing a semi-finished leaf spring is wound under tension onto a winding core, wherein at least two cavities for shaping are configured on the winding core. The tape material here is pressed on by way of a contact pressure means, such that adjacent layers of the fiber material are adhesively interconnected and air pockets are removed. The semi-finished leaf spring under impingement by pressure and heat and under curing of the matrix resin is finally processed to form a leaf spring.

  • Patent number: 8950766
Abstract: An axle suspension for a motor vehicle includes a longitudinal leaf spring made of fiber composite and having ends coupled to the motor vehicle. The leaf spring has an attachment zone and two arms which extend from the attachment zone to the ends of the leaf spring to define a trailing arm and a leading arm in a travel direction of the motor vehicle, with the trailing arm having a cross sectional dimension which is greater than a cross sectional dimension of the leading arm. A clamping device couples an axle component to the leaf spring substantially in midsection of the leaf spring and is arranged offset in longitudinal direction from the midsection of the leaf spring.

  • Patent number: 8925909
Abstract: In a leaf spring arrangement for a chassis of a motor vehicle, a leaf spring includes multiple layers made of a glass fiber composite plastic, a reinforcement made of a carbon composite plastic and being disposed between an upper and a lower one of the layers, and a core made of a different material than the reinforcement and being disposed between the upper and lower layers, wherein the reinforcement is arranged along a longitudinal a side of the core. The leaf spring is coupled at its center region to an axle of the motor vehicle by a center connection and to the vehicle body by bodywork connections, wherein the leaf spring is tilted by an angle relative to the vertical axis of the motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8911651
Abstract: A leaf spring for a motor vehicle is made from a fiber composite component including individual fibers in form of at least two textile layers stacked on top of each other and a matrix made of a duroplastic or thermoplastic resin surrounding the fibers. The resin is hardened in a mold tool by applying pressure and heat. The stacked textile layers are formed inside a mold tool and fixed by a dry binder applied to at least one of the textile layers to form a dry preform. A fiber composite blank is stamped from the preform and subsequently infiltrated with the resin in a RTM cavity and hardened. The binder applied in dry form may only be arranged in certain areas of the textile layers.

  • Publication number: 20120309247
Abstract: In a method of making a hybrid part, a reinforcement element of fiber composite is placed upon a base member in a press tool. A strip-shaped cover having a resin absorbing absorbent layer is withdrawn from a supply unit and placed in the press tool between the reinforcement element and the press tool. As the base member and the reinforcement element are compressed with one another and joined any resin issuing out from the reinforcement element is absorbed by the absorbent layer of the cover and kept away from soiling the press tool or the base member. After the compression process, the cover is removed.
