    Abstract: A brake for rail cars comprises a floating caliper disc brake attached to a cylindrical housing element of a drive housing. The drive housing may be the motor housing, the transmission housing or a common housing for the drive motor and the transmission. The cylindrical housing element has an opening in its peripheral wall in which the floating caliper is mounted. The actuator is mounted in an entry in the peripheral wall of the drive housing. This mounting arrangement allows easier accessiblity to the brake during servicing operations and provides for ventilation of the brake disc.

    Abstract: A ventilated brake disc for rail vehicles of a divided or undivided design is provided. The brake disc comprises a brake ring with ribs connected to the hub. Projections for fastening the brake ring to the hub are connected to selected ribs having recesses. In another design the brake ring, within its neutral range, is provided with projections arranged opposite one another at a dividing groove, each projection having a respective tangential bore for receiving a screw for fastening the sections of the divided brake ring, whereby a portion of the ribs in the area of the projections extends radially inwardly and radially outwardly from the projections. In another design first projections have respective first tangential bores aligned with one another for receiving a first screw are positioned opposite one another at a dividing groove of the brake ring in the vicinity of its inner circumference.

    Abstract: An assembled brake disc for a disc brake with partial lining is comprised of two components in the form of a brake ring and a hub and at least one dog and at least one corresponding groove. The components are connected to one another by the dog extending into the groove. The dog has outer contact surfaces resting at mating inner side walls of the groove. At least one of the outer contact surfaces and a corresponding one of the mating inner side walls are slanted relative to an axial direction of the brake disc. The brake disc further comprises screws extending parallel to the axial direction for pressing the outer contact surfaces against the mating inner side walls.

The point of connection of at least one of the linkage rods to the vehicle is adjustable as a function of such vehicle states including forward or rearward travel, straight-ahead travel or travel through a curve, and braking or driving, and/or including a function of the state of wear of the wheel.

    Abstract: A brake cylinder, especially for rail vehicles, with a simple-acting linkage regulator for maintaining a uniform play between the brake surfaces. A nut that is disposed upon a threaded spindle is connected with first coupling surfaces that cooperate with second coupling surfaces disposed on the piston of the control or operating cylinder. A coupling element that is provided with the first coupling surfaces is further provided with a centrally disposed pin that is guided in the piston of the cylinder. A spring or other member that is under pressure is clamped onto the pin, with this member being secured in such a way that it cannot shift parallel to the axis of the pin nor can it rotate with the pin.

    Abstract: An assembly and disassembly system for a spring of a brake actuation unit, in particular for rail vehicles including a fluid pressure cylinder and a piston slidable in the cylinder. A cylindrical nut member is provided having a tubular portion extending outwardly of the piston. An output head is connected to the tubular portion and includes an outer tubular portion extending towards the piston. A compression spring is provided disposed between the tubular portion of the cylindrical nut member and the outer tubular portion of the output head. A sleeve member is disposed between the spring and the outer tubular portion of the output head. This sleeve is provided with a slot which extends in an axial direction along the sleeve. The outer tubular portion includes an opening which may be aligned with the sleeve slot. A member such as a pin is provided which extends through the opening into the slot holding the sleeve and the outer tubular portion in a position engaged around the spring.

The brake actuation unit contains a linkage setter including two parts displaceable relative to each other in a telescopic fashion. One of the parts is formed as a threaded spindle and the other tubular part is firmly connected with a nut which is screwed on the spindle with a nonselflocking thread. A stop is provided on the tubular part fixed in an axial direction but easily turnable. An actuating spring is clamped between the piston and the output part.

    Abstract: An axially split brake disk that includes two brake bands that form a brake ring and are interconnected by ribs. The brake disk further includes two brake ring halves that are separated by concentric and radially extending seams of division, in each of which one of the brake ring halves is provided with a projection that extends in a concentric direction, while the other brake ring half is provided with a corresponding U-shaped recess that accommodates the projection. The width of the projection is less than the width of the brake ring, as measured in a radial direction. The projection of the one brake ring half, as well as that portion of the other brake ring half in which the recess is provided, are provided with corresponding radially extending bores for receiving a holding mechanism, such as a sleeve-like or rod-like member, that is provided with pin-like elements for preventing the holding mechanism from shifting in a radial direction relative to the brake ring halves.

    Abstract: A brake actuation unit comprises a fluid pressure cylinder with a piston movable in the cylinder which has a central projection portion with a recess having axially spaced opposed coupling surfaces. The spindle is centrally arranged in respect to the piston and a nut is threadable on the spindle and has a tubular portion terminating in a flange which has a flange projecting portion extending into the recess of the piston projection portion and it has opposed coupling surfaces engageable with respective opposed coupling surfaces of the piston projecting portion so as to form respective axially opposite direction of movement coupling pairs. The guide sleeve is positioned over in spaced relationship to the nut tubular portion and has a radially extending collar on an end thereof adjacent the piston. An output head is movable in an axial direction to apply a braking force and has a tubular portion telescopically engaged over the guide sleeve.

These clamping surfaces are in alignment with each other in radial and/or axis parallel direction, and the clamping strip extends into both clamping grooves while being clamped thereinto; at least three pairs of clamping surfaces being provided for each brake ring, so that at least three of the above mentioned connections are provided for each brake ring.

    Abstract: A brake disc with improved ventilation cooling means, comprising a brake ring, the interior of which is provided with radially running channels formed by vanes. Cooling air to be conveyed by the vanes enters the channels on the hub side at the inner circumference of the brake ring and exits at the outer circumference of the brake ring. In addition to rib-shaped vanes, the length of which correspond to the entire width of the brake ring, thermal flow vanes are provided. To increase the air turbulence, the width of the base of the thermal flow vanes is more than 60% of the distance from the start of one vane to the start of the next vane, measured along the braking radius, and the width of the base of the thermal flow vanes is between 80 and 100% of the distance between vanes, measured at the inner circumference of the brake ring.

    Abstract: A disc brake construction, especially for rail vehicles, in which a bogie having at least one axle rotatable therein is provided with brake discs on the inner sides of the wheels on the axle. The disc brake construction embodies a brake shoe adjacent each disc, each of which is pivotally supported on a lever pivotally supported on the bogie. Brake actuating mechanism extending transversely of the bogie is operatively connected to and supported by the levers for actuating the levers to cause the shoes to engage the respective discs. A mechanical device can also be operatively connected to the levers for mechanically actuating the brakes. The entire brake structure, other than the discs on the respective wheels, is supported by the bogie on which the wheel axle, or axles, rotates.
