Patent number: 6976668Abstract: The present invention provides an improved diaphragm control valve with a simplified construction that has significant advantages over prior art diaphragm control valves. Further, the present invention provides substantially straight-through fluid flow which enables a high flow capacity with minimal pressure loss. The non-planar diaphragm of the present invention, when standing in a non-stressed state, is substantially an annulus that assumes a shape with a cross section that extends from a first attachment bead substantially radially in a first direction through a first curve continues substantially non-radially in a second direction through a second curve and continues in a substantially radial direction terminating in a second attachment bead, such that the diaphragm does not fold back on itself. That is to say, the diaphragm is both axially non-overlapping and rotationally symmetrical.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2002Date of Patent: December 20, 2005Assignee: BermadInventor: Zvi Weingarten

Patent number: 5918622Abstract: This invention discloses a separation valve for separating immiscible liquids of different specific gravities, including container having a chamber for receiving the liquids, an outlet at the lower end of the container for outletting the liquid of higher specific gravity, a valve opening between the chamber and the outlet, and a floatable valve member within the chamber movable towards and away from the valve opening, the valve member being of a weight and volume such as to be at least partially immersed in the liquid of lower specific gravity in the chamber and to float in the liquid of higher specific gravity, and thereby to close said valve opening when the liquid of higher specific gravity within the chamber has exited therefrom via the outlet.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1997Date of Patent: July 6, 1999Assignee: BermadInventor: Reuben Perez

Patent number: 5464064Abstract: This disclosure relates to a valve including a valve member having: a predetermined surface area on its inlet side exposed to the inlet pressure to produce a force tending to move the valve member to an open position; a larger surface area on its opposite, control side exposed to the inlet pressure to produce a larger force tending to move the valve member to its closed position; a passageway through the valve member; a restrictor orifice in the passageway; and a one-way valve in the passageway permitting fluid flow only from the inlet side to the control side of the valve member, to prevent unintentional opening of the valve member in the event of a drop in the inlet pressure followed by the resumption of the inlet pressure.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1993Date of Patent: November 7, 1995Assignee: BermadInventor: Zvi Weingarten

Patent number: 5383646Abstract: A diaphragm control valve includes a diaphragm valve member having an outer peripheral section for securing the diaphragm within the valve housing, a valve-closer section displaceable with respect to the valve seat for controlling the flow, an intermediate flexible section permitting the displacement of the valve-closer section, and a cylindrical guiding section between the valve-closer section and the intermediate flexible section. The housing includes a cylindrical guiding surface engageable with the cylindrical guiding section of the diaphragm and with the valve-closer section for guiding the movement of the valve-closer section.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1994Date of Patent: January 24, 1995Assignee: BermadInventor: Zvi Weingarten

Patent number: 4862914Abstract: A valve comprises a housing having an inlet port, an outlet port, and a backflush port for discharging the dirt from the filter during a backflushing operation. A first passageway interconnects the inlet port and outlet port, and a second passageway interconnects the outlet port and the backflush port. A displaceable valve member is movable to a filtering position to effect a filtering operation wherein the inlet port is connected to the outlet port via the first passageway, or to a backflushing position to effect a backflushing operation wherein the outlet port is connected to the backflush port via the second passageway.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1988Date of Patent: September 5, 1989Assignee: BermadInventor: Zvi Weingarten
