  • Patent number: 7199875
Abstract: A furnace, in particular for an electro thermal atomization device of an atom absorption spectrometer, has a heatable heat duct in which is mounted a trial platform. The trial platform is essentially basin-shaped with radially inward-turned rims, at least at its free ends. In order to make ongoing improvements in a furnace of the aforementioned type, so that the trial platform has an increased lifetime along with high reproducibility of measurements and simple operation as well as low cost, the trial platform features a geometric structure stabilization device which reduces the ratio of effective volume of the trial platform to the rim volume.

  • Patent number: 7166935
Abstract: A circuit breaker system has been provided for the controlled interruption of at least one circuit, with a mechanical breaker element and an adjustment device coupled to the breaker element, so that the mechanical breaker element can be placed in at least a first, second, and third position in order to selectively break or let pass neighboring circuits in the first, second, or third position. The breaker element is rotatably secured in a fastening device, connected with one foot. The interruption conditions are provided by a magnetic coil, which exerts power by way of a magnetic field on a permanent magnet, which is secured to the breaker element. In the simplest case the circuit breaker system has three conditions at its disposal, by which one of two circuits can be broken. When the coil is without power, one circuit is broken. The other circuit is broken by reversing the circuit direction.

  • Patent number: 6899267
Abstract: A method of providing sample containers with an automatically readable identification for an analysis device, in which the sample container may be heated to an operating temperature. It is the object of the invention to improve the identification of sample containers in a manner that the sample contained in the sample container is not contaminated by the constituents of the identification agent during analysis. The object of the invention is solved in that during the manufacturing process of the sample container, the identification is applied during the final cooling phase of the ready sample container in a temperature interval between a maximum temperature during the sample container manufacture and the operating temperature.

  • Patent number: 6589795
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a device for detecting mercury in a sample solution, the mercury being contained in the sample solution in cationic form and as an organic compound, by means of a detection device comprising an atomic spectroscope provided with a measuring cell which is suitable for detecting mercury gas, a noble-metal concentrator for concentrating the mercury and a control unit, the mercury being converted into the gas phase and being adapted to be concentrated by means of the noble-metal concentrator. The method according to the present invention is characterized in that the control unit controls the supply of the mercury gas to the measuring cell in such a way that, in addition to the measurement of the concentrated mercury, mercury gas of the same sample, which has not been subjected to the concentration step, is introduced in the measuring cell for the purpose of measurement.

  • Patent number: 6579501
Abstract: The present invention refers to an apparatus for carrying out wet chemical reactions under pressure comprising a pressure sure vessel in which a reaction liquid can be provided and which is adapted to be sealed in a pressure-tight manner by closure means. When the reaction liquid is heated, the pressure in the interior of the pressure vessel will increase; the stressability limit of the pressure vessel must, however, not be exceeded. The total pressure in the interior is composed of the partial pressures of the reaction liquid and of the reaction products. The reaction liquid must be maintained at so low a temperature that the sum of the partial pressures of the reaction liquid and of the gaseous reaction products does not exceed the maximum load value of the pressure vessel. For achieving a wet chemical reaction which is as fast and as efficient as possible, the highest possible temperature of the reaction liquid is, however, required.

  • Patent number: 5367168
Abstract: A method for discrimination and simultaneous or separate measurement of single or multiple electronic events in an opto-electronic detector, such as a photo-multiplier, wherein information for the discrimination of these events is obtained from the signal progression occurring at the detector output within a predeterminable time window. According to this method, a characteristic parameter (T.sub.M ; t.sub.b -t.sub.a) is obtained for the temporal "center of gravity" of the progression of the signal itself or its integral over the time window (T.sub.F), the value of which is compared with a reference value (T.sub.S ; C.sub.1) which this parameter assumes during a single photo-electron event.

  • Patent number: 5347130
Abstract: A method and device for effecting a location-sensitive measurement of a flat sample of radiation emitting material having a plurality of partial areas, in which a screen plate having radiation passage openings is disposed between a detector and the sample; radiation emanating from a group of the partial areas is detected in accordance with the shape of the screen plate openings; information based on the detected radiation is stored; and then a relative displacement is effected between the sample and the detector and detecting and storing are repeated for another group of partial areas, so that the total measurement is composed of a plurality of such successively performed partial measurements which provide a measurement of the total distribution of radiation emitted by the sample.

  • Patent number: 5340989
Abstract: A counting tube for detecting radioactive radiation exclusively uses cathode pads for signal detection, which are disposed electrically insulated on the interior of an inner wall of the counting tube housing opposite the sample. A discrete electronic evaluation element is preferably allocated to each cathode element, which makes possible parallel evaluation of the counting tube signal. The cathode pads are in particular laminated in the form of a metal-coated conductive surface on a support plate made of an insulating material. The field of application of such counting tubes with the exclusive use of cathode pads is in particular in connection with multiple counting tubes where the partial areas of a total area to be measured are intended to be individually detected and evaluated.
