  • Patent number: 4624123
Abstract: A machine for straightening cylindrical workpieces such as motor armature assemblies having diametrically enlarged intermediate sections and reduced diameter opposite end sections coaxial with the intermediate sections. The machine has first and second separable bearing units aligned axially and spaced apart axially for engagement and support of said reduced diameter opposite end sections of a workpiece. In one embodiment, at least one end section projects axially and with the workpiece rotating, a radially movable deflection device engages the projecting end section of the workpiece, bends and slowly returns the same to axial alignment. In a second embodiment, both end sections of the shaft or reduced diameter portion are deflected and straightened simultaneously. In a third embodiment the intermediate section is bent out of axial alignment and slowly returned for straightening relative to the opposite end sections.

  • Patent number: 4488423
Abstract: A machine for straightening an elongated workpiece has a plurality of coacting tools which include first and second sets of tools arranged in alternate series along a fixed longitudinal axis to engage successive longitudinally spaced portions of a workpiece positioned therebetween with its longitudinal center line generally aligned with a longitudinal axis. A cam operated lever system simultaneously reciprocates the tools of the first and second sets in opposite transverse directions relative to the longitudinal axis and each other to alternately displace portions of the center line of the workpiece to one and the opposite side of the longitudinal axis. A mechanism is provided to vary the magnitude of reciprocating lever movement to vary center line displacement between a position of maximum displacement and a position wherein workpiece portions are substantially longitudinally aligned.

  • Patent number: 4111346
Abstract: A tube cutting machine has a cutting station and an intermittently operable feed means comprising an air cylinder operating a feed clamp assembly. The cylinder and clamp assembly axially advance an elongated section of tubing to present trailing end portions of leading end tube sections at the cutting station. A cutting clamp assembly securely holds the tube rearwardly of each trailing end portion for the cutting operation. A centrally apertured rotary cutting head has three radially movable rotary cutters or rollers which effect a partial cut at each trailing end portion. The cutting head and its operating means include positive mechanical actuating means for the small rotary cutters or rollers and an adjustable means is provided for precisely limiting inward cutter or roller movement in accordance with tube diameter and wall thickness.
