Abstract: An exit sign includes a main body, a front panel and at least one light source. The main body includes a rear portion, a peripheral side portion and an opening. The peripheral side portion has a first translucent area which is U-shaped. The front panel is received in the opening and includes a symbol indicating a location of a building exit, with the symbol establishing a second translucent area. The at least one light source emits light through the first and second translucent areas, with the first translucent area providing lighting directly in front of the exit sign, directly below the exit sign and directly on either side of the exit sign. The exit sign is particularly configured to be mounted low on a hallway wall to enable a person crawling below a level of smoke in the hallway to be visually guided to an exit door.

Abstract: A compact exit sign includes a main body having an open frontal portion, an annular side wall portion and a rear panel portion including a central opening extending across greater than half of the rear panel, and a front plate including a face portion provided with exit indicia. The exit sign can be selectively converted between single and double face exit signs by snap-connecting a first, solid and non-transparent insert to the main body across the central opening of the rear panel to establish a single face exit sign and snap-connecting a second, exit indicia containing insert to the main body across the central opening of the rear panel to establish a double face exit sign. A lighting system is housed within the main body for illuminating the exit indicia for either of the single or double face configurations.

The bottom portion of the housing is formed with a recessed section intermediate opposing side flange portions, with a light bar incorporating LEDs being mounted in the recess section to provide emergency lighting during power outages and emergency situations. The bar is white in color on the outside, except a bottom portion of the bar is left clear for the free transmission of light. With this construction, at least a substantial majority of fight generated by the LEDs will be directed out of the bottom portion, while the side portions are also preferably lit thereby providing a more intense light out of the bottom portion to assure adequate illumination leading to a suitable exit.

Abstract: An emergency exit sign includes a support assembly which permits rotation of lighting heads, about an upright axis, through an angle greater than 180°. A freely rotatable joint element is used to maintain the lighting heads, in cooperation with mating facets, in various positions without the need for mechanical fasteners. The lighting heads are also attached to a snap connector which, enables the lighting head to be shifted about an arcuate axis, as well as rotated about a still further axis which is substantially perpendicular to the upright axis.

Abstract: A lamp support comprises a plurality of attachment ends affixed to a bottom surface of a base member to attach the base member of the lamp support to a stationary object, preferably, an emergency exit sign. A pair of stems, equipped with a pair of engaging members at one end, extend from an upper surface of the base members. The engaging members face each other at one end. The engaging members include a plurality of flexible teeth that interface with a plurality of rotational faces located in a pair of rotational apertures located in a housing. The housing is attached to the pair of stems by the engaging member, enabling the housing to rotate 360 degrees on an axis created by the stems.
