Patents Assigned to Bestline Liner Systems, Inc.
  • Patent number: 6415863
Abstract: A hanger for use in joining tubulars includes an inner tubular with a first portion of length with increasing wall thickness and a second portion of length with decreasing wall thickness through the same longitudinal direction. A swedge sized to expand the inner tubular beyond the yield point to engage and expand the outer tubular is to be drawn through the inner tubular. With the variation in wall thickness, the outer tubular is progressively expanded in an increasing manner and then in a decreasing manner. The difference in inelastic expansion operates to insure an appropriate ultimate fit at one or two areas between the overlapping tubulars. The inner tubular may include a nipple affixed to a liner or may include a liner with an outer filler. In one case, the nipple has varying wall thickness while in the other the filler exhibits the varying wall thickness. A segmented swedge includes portions of the part lines between adjacent segments which are circumferential.

  • Patent number: 5871050
Abstract: A well completion system and method including a landing adapter which can be interlocked with a landing ring. A split ring is retained within a groove in the landing adapter which operates to lock the landing adapter with the landing ring. The groove into which the shear ring is positioned has two effective diameters. A first diameter allows the shear ring to compress and pass within the landing ring. The second diameter prevents extraction without shearing of the ring. A by-pass tool is positioned with a liner assembly 14 having a landing adapter. The by-pass tool includes a valve sleeve having a first position allowing flow down the center bore into a stinger extending to a wash-in shoe. Once the liner assembly has been washed in, the valve sleeve assumes a second, open position. Gravel packing may then occur through the central bore with return through a by-pass passage through the tool. Cleaning of the liner and tool can also occur through reverse flow to the gravel packed area.

  • Patent number: 5732775
Abstract: A system including method and apparatus for placing and cementing a plurality of scab liners as well as a surface liner in a well with one placement. A duplex assembly is created using a lower duplex tool having a duplex shoe with a valve assembly positioned in the duplex tool. A scab casing is fixed to the duplex tool and drill pipe extends into the scab casing to mate with the valve assembly. A ratchet insures locking of the drill string. The valve assembly includes elements to control flow of cement to outwardly of the scab casing and the flow of flushing fluid inwardly of the scab casing. A locking mechanism using floating dogs controlled by a locking sleeve allows unlocking of the valve assembly from the duplex tool upon completion of the cementing and flushing operation. Similar operations are conducted in succeeding duplex assemblies upwardly along the string, each succeeding scab casing being cemented in turn.
