Abstract: The invention provides a controllable gripper for a robot. A plurality of gripping members, e.g. suction cups, are arranged to engage with a surface of an object to be gripped. The gripping members are arranged in a controllable gripping configuration. A base part is arranged to be moved by a robotic actuator, e.g. a gantry type of robotic actuator. Two or more arms connected to the base part are slidably arranged along their lengths relative to the base part. Each arm has a gripping member at or near its distal end. A controllable actuator system is arranged to control position of the arms in different directions, relative to the base part, thus allowing various gripping configurations to be formed with respect to at least size. Especially, four arms of fixed length, each with a suction cup, may be actuated by one or two electric motors, so a to allow the four suction cups to form various gripping quadrangle sizes.

Abstract: A robot system for picking randomly shaped and sized object from a continuously moving stream of objects in bulk, e.g. a 3D bulk, and placing the object singulated and aligned on an induction or directly on a sorter. A pick and place robot has a robotic actuator for moving a gripper with a controllable gripping configuration of its gripping members, e.g. four suction cups, to adapt the gripper for various objects. A control system processes a 3D image of objects upstream of a position of the pick and place robot, identifies separate objects in the 3D image, and selects which object to grip, based on parameters of the identified separate objects determined from the 3D image. Based on e.g. size and shape of the selected object to grip, the gripping configuration of the gripper is adjusted to match the surface of the object to grip for optimal gripping. The robotic actuator, e.g.

Abstract: There is disclosed agiotage and retrieval system e.g. suitable for use in an airport and for aircraft baggage. In order e.g. to provide such system which improves usage and availability in view of the prior-art, a control system controls the system in two modes of operation. In a first mode of operation, a first rack region serving device (110) is only serving a first rack region 104 using a first feeding and extraction conveyor system (114), and a second rack region serving device (112) is only serving a second rack region (106) using a second feeding and extraction conveyor system (116). In a second mode of operation, only the first rack region serving device (110) is used for serving both the first and second rack regions (104, 106), and only the first feeding and extraction conveyor system (114) is used for feeding articles to the first rack region serving device (110) and for taking away articles from the first rack region serving device (110).

Abstract: The invention provides a computer implemented method for test of a control system for a logistics system. The method comprises testing (TST1, TST2) one or more low level control (LLC) software parts by simultaneously emulating a high level (HLE) response, emulating a low level emulating (LLE) response, and interfacing (INF) said HLE and low level emulation LLE. The interfacing (INF) of the HLE and LLE, comprises two-way exchanging a plurality of parameters (P) indicative of items to be handled in the logistics system between the HLE and the LLE. With such interfacing of a HLE for testing of a high level control (HLC) software of the logistics system, and the LLE for, it is possible to provide a realistic test and tuning of LLC software parts, e.g. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) code, before the physical elements of a complex logistics system is built, e.g. an airport baggage handling system.
