Publication number: 20230266239Abstract: A system and method for exploiting spectral absorption properties of water is disclosed. The system and method use spectral absorption properties of water to improve Short Wave InfraRed (SWIR) sensor (camera) performance in the presence of clouds. This is achieved partly by limiting the spectral passband of a sensor to a water absorption band, thereby improving Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). Higher SNR permits improved CSO resolution. Further, higher SNR reduces the uncertainty in matching observations in one sensor to the epipolar lines of another sensor thus reducing the time needed to achieve unambiguous matches.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2022Publication date: August 24, 2023Applicant: Bevilacqua Research Corporation, IncInventor: Robert Pilgrim

Publication number: 20230134405Abstract: A system for stitching images together is disclosed. The images are sometimes referred to as frames, such as frames in a video sequence. The system comprises one or more imagers (e.g. cameras) that work in coordination with a matching amount of custom code modules. The system achieves image stitching using approximately one third the Field of View (FOV) of each imager (camera) and also by increasing the number of imagers to be above a predetermined threshold. The system displays these stitched images or frames on a computer monitor, either in a still-image context but also in a video-context. Normally these tasks would involve a great detail of computation, but the system achieves these effects while managing the computational load. In stitching the images together, it is sometimes necessary to introduce some image distortion (faceting) in the combined image. The system ensures no gaps in any captured view, and assists in achieving full situational awareness for a viewer.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2022Publication date: May 4, 2023Applicant: Bevilacqua Research Corporation, IncInventors: Robert Pilgrim, Roy Brown, Chuck Bryant, Lee Gay, Glenn Hembree

Publication number: 20220107425Abstract: A variety of methods and devices for a low-probability of intercept, low probability of denial (LPI/LPD) method of providing RF signals in denied spaces are disclosed. A phased array antenna converts an omnidirectional communication system into a highly directional system. This factor coupled with the precise timing between the transmit and receive sets, establishes a precise distance measurement between the two sets. Using three or more transceivers enables the composition of an ad hoc network of nodes that can be used to establish an available mesh of position and timing that can be accessed by operators within the radio boundaries of the mesh. Portable transceivers reestablish position, navigation and timing (PNT), thereby forming an ad-hoc network. Where the ad-hoc network PNT mesh can intersect with a GPS signal that is outside of the denied environment, the ad-hoc network mesh can detect the GPS position and timing.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 2, 2020Publication date: April 7, 2022Applicant: Bevilacqua Research Corporation, IncInventors: James J. Publication number: 20200279078Abstract: A system and method for lowering probability that low data rates, high bit error rates, and susceptibility to signal degradation in communication environments during storms, solar activity, and adversarial activity is disclosed. The system and method affect communications by minimizing the amount of data/information that needs to be transmitted, partly by creating an algorithmic process/method that moves knowledge and not data and information. The system and method is based upon the realization that structured communications often possess a similar level of context that can be exploited to communicate full meaning (knowledge), even when only a small fraction of the message is transmitted to the receiver. Reducing the number of bytes transmitted significantly reduces the probability that a transmission will be affected by either naturally occurring or human supplied factors present in modern communication environments.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2020Publication date: September 3, 2020Applicant: Bevilacqua Research Corporation, IncInventors: Andy Bevilacqua, Roy Brown, Glenn Hembree
