  • Patent number: 6839251
Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling voltage applied to an electrostatic precipitator is disclosed. This apparatus includes a pulsating, direct current, voltage mechanism that is operable to receive power from a single phase, alternating current voltage source, and a spiral wound filter capacitor, wherein the pulsating, direct current, voltage mechanism is electrically connected in parallel to the spiral wound filter capacitor and the spiral wound filter capacitor is electrically connected in parallel to the electrostatic precipitator. Optionally, a resistor is present to lower the transient voltage rating of the spiral wound filter capacitor. A switching mechanism may be utilized to apply differing amounts of capacitance and inductance in order to apply a range of voltage waveforms to the electrostatic precipitator to potentially maximize particulate collection efficiency for the electrostatic precipitator.

  • Publication number: 20040237483
Abstract: A filter cartridge for use in a baghouse having a tubesheet with a plurality of opening. A flexible snapband is biased towards engagement with a surface defining one of the openings in the tubesheet and is adapted to receive a portion of the filter cartridge. The snapband has a first surface and a second surface with a pair of protrusions separated by a groove adapted to receive a peripheral edge of one of the tubesheet openingd. The pair of protrusions sealingly engage surfaces of the tubesheet. The filter cartridge includes filter media. Structure supports the filter media. A rigid non-metallic tubular collar is integrally formed with the filter media and the structure to secure this filter media and the structure to said collar. The collar includes a pair of longitudinally spaced continuous projections extending radially from the collar.

  • Patent number: 6726735
Abstract: A filter cartridge having a unitary construction with a pleat pack filter formed securely about an interior screen for installation in the tube sheet of a baghouse. Opposite ends of the pleat pack are integrally received within a bottom end cap and an upper fitting. The bottom end cap may be molded to follow the contour of the pleat pack, or may be molded as a disk with an inwardly projecting groove to centrally align the pleat pack therein. The upper fitting is formed of a resiliently flexible material and includes an upper flange to overlie and seal with the upper surface of the tube sheet, a tube sheet mouth insert to seal with a circular opening in the tube sheet, a contoured transition to seal with the lower surface of the tube sheet, and a lower cylindrical collar which permanently secures the upper end of the filter. The contoured transition of the fitting is alternatively molded with either an exterior bulge or an interior bulge.

  • Patent number: 6540812
Abstract: An improved method and system is provided to control the rapping process used to clean the internal collection plates and discharge electrodes of electrostatic precipitators. The system obtains the performance characteristics of a first rapper and calculates a rapper lift value. The system then obtains performance characteristic data from two or more additional rappers and calculates rapper lift values for each of the rappers. Finally, the system compares the rapper lift value of each additional rapper and adjusts its performance characteristics so that it substantially approximates the performance characteristics of the first rapper.

  • Patent number: 6233790
Abstract: A fastener for an outer strap of an air filter cartridge is provided. The outer straps have apertures formed on either end of the strap. An eyelet assembly is secured within one of the apertures. The eyelet assembly includes an eyelet and a backing washer. The eyelet has an annular top placed flush with one side of the strap and a sleeve received within the aperture. The peripheral edge of the sleeve is crimped outwardly to secure the backing washer to the side of the strap opposite the eyelet top. When the strap is secured about a circumference of the cartridge filter, the apertures are aligned and a rivet is placed within the apertures. The rivet has a head and a body. The rivet body pulls the crimped eyelet sleeve and washer toward the rivet head and the ends of the straps are held in firm connection with one another.
